It's about that time - time for the world's leather aficionados to gather in San Francisco for the Folsom Street fair. And that means, of course, that it's time for social conservatives to start hitting out at the controversial event's sponsors. Yay!

The ex-gay movement's trying to make moves into public libraries.

Right-wing non-profit PFOX, Parents and Friends of ExGays and Gays, recently urged members to sent local libraries some suggested reading, like Arthur Goldberg's Light in the Closet: Torah, Homosexuality, and the Power to Change, and A Parent’s Guide to Preventing Homosexuality, by Joseph and Linda Nicolosi. Both titles, we're sure, are page-turners.

PFOX supporters are also further encouraged to tell libraries they have no reason to "censor" such materials. Except, we hope, a conscience.

Not one to be left out of an anti-gay throw-down, Americans For Truth's Peter LaBarbera passed word along to his own brethren, telling them to join the fight and help form the world's most self-righteous book club!

The Evangelical movement has been undergoing a bit of an evolution.

While family values once dominated their agenda, the younger generations are expanding their horizon by getting involved in the anti-war movement, cleaning up the environment and taking on more universal social responsibilities.

Horrified by the 21st century and the prospect of change, more ardent evangelicals are speaking out against those damned whipper-snappers.

» LaBarbera Out!

Evil anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera, who has previously taken on Out magazine and frequently decried the "gay agenda," has left his gig at Concerned Women For America to join the Liberty Counsel and Liberty University School of Law, so he can help rear a new generation of nasties. Be. Very. Afraid. [Pam's House Blend]

You know how some people say reporter Anderson Cooper shouldn't cover "gay" things because he "may or may not be" a homosexual? Well, should Catholics be allowed to cover Pope Benedict XVI's "historic" visit to the United States? Catholicism and same-sex loving are both controversial…

In even more war-ish news, the brutish Peter LaBarbera and his pals at Americans For "Truth" ain't gay about Out's list of the universe's most powerful homos:

We are intrigued by the fact that the same movement that once cried out for “privacy” and “to be left alone” feels free to publicly declare people’s homosexuality for them (Anderson Cooper, No. 2, and Jodie Foster, No. 43).

On the other hand, if OUT is right, it might explain Cooper’s bias in his reporting on the homosexual issue: in a recent interview that the CNN host did with pro and con advocates on a ”gay parenting” story, he blatantly favored the “gay” side in his questioning.

Regardless of whether Cooper practices homosexuality, as a professional he should be completely even-handed in his treatment of this controversial moral question.

This from a man who uses his influence to spread blatantly biased spread gay panic and supports Sally Kern, the politician who called non-Christians "infidels" and equated gays with terrorists? Who's even-handed?

You know how they say there's a gay mafia? Well, there's an anti-gay mafia, as well, and Sally Kern's a member. Or, at the very least, an adherent.

The Oklahoma lawmaker first burst onto the national scene last week, after Victory Fund published her now infamous anti-gay audio.

While addressing like-minded peers, Kern spouted some pretty dangerous - and erroneous - bullshit, like that we gays are going after children and hellbent on destroying the United States. Sound familiar?

It should, because that's the same garbage produced by some of the nation's most notable right-wing activists, Matt Barber and Peter LaBarbera, whose arguments Kern uses to back up her homophobic nonsense.

The late Ric Weiland left quite a legacy in distributing $65 million between various gay donations. Some nasties, however, want to sully the moment.

Americans For Truth leader Peter LaBarbera recently urged his fellow bigots to start donating more lest the pink dollar seduce more children to the dark side:

Already the pro-homosexual movement outspends the pro-family movement specifically on the issue of homosexuality by a huge factor, and this is only going to make it worse.

[B]ecause what you're doing is creating a financial incentive for students to publicly declare their homosexuality at a young age. nd when you throw money in the mix, you're encouraging students to declare their homosexuality; you're promoting homosexuality among young people — as if they needed it with all the pro-gay messages in our culture. I think it's just a very sad thing.

Genocide is sad. Poverty is sad. Kids accepting themselves earlier? Not so so. As for this "financial incentive" business, we've never heard such hog wash - not since LaBarbera last spoke, at least.

» "Gay Agenda" Redux Ad Nauseum Cont…

It's raining wackos today. First Peter LaBarbera came out to hate on a second grader and now Concerned Women for America's main man, Matt Barber, has penned the billionth dissection of the mythical "gay agenda". Barber really covers his bases in this one, taking on HRC, "central" documents from 1972 and 1989, our activists tools which are 'intended to silence traditional views on human sexuality and sexual morality and so much more. And of course he ends with some moralistic bullshit: "With God's help, we can turn back the tide of sexual and moral relativism that has both permeated our society and offended our founding principles." A Colorado-based second grader born a boy wants to be a girl. Thus, school officials and the child's parents have agreed to let "him" dress as a girl, his preferred gender identity.

And you can bet social conservatives are flipping their wing-nut shit, like Americans For "Truth" leader Peter LaBarbera, who took some time to blast the decision:

[LaBarbera] says the real victims of the supposed "diversity policy" are the young man's classmates. "If the parents are so misled to encourage their child in this gender-confused behavior, they should not be allowed to teach that same behavior to all the other students in the school," argues LaBarbera. "I think it's a terribly sad situation. This boy needs help, the parents need help, obviously."

This from a man who claims to hate gay people, yet consistently shows up at leather events for "research"? Okay…

Americans for "Truth" leader Peter LaBarbera ain't happy with C-Span: "I'm wondering why C-SPAN chose to re-air a long speech by homosexual activist and Episcopal Bishop Vicky Gene Robinson on Christmas Eve, one of the most sacred days on the Christian calendar." Because they're not backward bigots?

"Our bad!"

The CDC recently reported that gay men are helping spread a super staph infection. While certainly bad news, things got even worse when the right wing used the findings to further fuel gay panic.

Seeing the error of their ways, the CDC released a statement clarifying that the matter does not rest entirely on homo shoulders:

The strains of MRSA described in the recent Annals of Internal Medicine have mostly been identified in certain groups of men who have sex with men (MSM), but have also been found in some persons who are not MSM. It is important to note that the groups of MSM in which these isolates have been described are not representative of all MSM, so conclusions can not be drawn about the prevalence of these strains among all MSM.

We're sure social conservatives like Matt Barber and Peter LaBarbera will dismiss this as part of some sinister gay agenda…

It's now officially pouring.

Americans For Truth leader Peter LaBarbera joined Matt Barber in demonizing gay folk for "spreading" disease.

Is this not an eerie reminder of the initial stories 25 years ago about AIDS — then called GRID (Gay-Related Immunodeficiency Disease)? It is unfathomable that after that plague, disease specialists and the media are now surprised at the correlation of new infections with homosexual behavior.

LaBarbera and his ilk don't seem to understand that right wing rhetoric helps breed unsafe sex practices. They should really be indicting themselves.

Will 'Meet The Press' Appearance Sink Campaign?

mitt_romney_for_president1-1.jpg
Mitt Romney's Meet The Press appearance continues to cost him friends. The Republican presidential candidate raised a few eyebrows when he tacitly endorsed state-sponsored Employment Non-Discrimination Laws. Said Mitt, "I would not support at the federal level, and I changed in that regard because I think that policy makes more sense to be evaluated or to be implemented at the state level."

First Matt LaBarbera came out against Republican Romney, calling his pussy-footing a "Christmas present" for the gays. LaBarbera said such a stance "disqualifies him as a pro-family leader". Now Renew America pundit Grant Swank's making a similar argument…

Will Civil Union "Support" Sink Endorsements?

beadyromney.jpg
Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's losing friends. Anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera called on pro-family organizations to rescind Romney endorsements.

Apparently LaBarbera objects Romney's recent appearance on NBC's Meet The Press, during which the Republican said state-based gay laws "make more sense" than a federal law.

LaBarbera took this soft line to mean Mitt supports the "gay agenda":

Mitt Romney's Christmas present to the homosexual lobby disqualifies him as a pro-family leader. Laws that treat homosexuality as a civil right are being used to promote homosexual 'marriage,' same-sex adoption and pro-homosexuality indoctrination of schoolchildren. These same laws pose a direct threat to the freedom of faith-minded citizens and organizations to act on their religious belief that homosexual behavior is wrong.

See, Mitt? That's what you get when you try to play both for both teams.
