The Benham Brothers are back and they’re really, really upset, you guys.
After Gov. Pat McCrory lost the race for governor in North Carolina last month, state lawmakers have decided to repeal the hugely unpopular anti-LGBTQ law that they believe led to McCrory’s defeat.
HB2 was passed during a special session back in March and voided all LGBTQ nondiscrimination ordinances across the entire state, thus making it legal to discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Now that the bill has been repealed, failed-reality-stars-turned-Christian-extremist-activists David and Jason Benham have taken to Facebook to express their outrage over what they’re calling a “political shakedown” by “sexual activists” so they can begin their systematic persecution of Christians.
“Here’s what they’re really after,” David Benham asserts in a new video uploaded to the twinsies’ Facebook page. “If you can repeal that, then they can go right back in and enact ordinances all over this state that will open up our bathrooms and our locker rooms to sexual predators!”
David calls it “open season on Christians” who are now at risk of being “targeted in the marketplace.”

“House Bill 2 is the only hurdle the Human Rights Campaign and sexual activists need to remove so that they can go out and force participation in this sexual revolution!” he says.

How is equality an “open season on Christians”?
Christian’s need to get over this idea that they can’t be Christian unless everyone else is forced to live by their hypocritical doctrine too. There are too many Christians with mutiple divorces bitching about equality for LGBT while they shovel sausages and bacon into their faces.
Why can’t religious belief be a personal thing instead of something that must be forced upon others? It’s laughable that they cry “persecution” when they are denied the right to persecute others that don’t share their beliefs. Religion is the choice. Being attracted to the same sex is not a choice and is an unchangeable, natural characteristic of a certain percentage of the human population that shouldn’t be marginalized or persecuted.

I am Episcopalian, and not only is my otherwise heterosexual congregation in Linden, NJ where I openly serve on the vestry and sing in the choir welcoming of LGBT people, they have made it their mission to find a replacement pastor (since our previous gay pastor retired) who not only accepts but encourages LGBT growth in our church and ministry. A few bad apples does not speak for the whole of Christianity, just like certain events within our own gay “community” do not make us all murderers, addicts, cannibals or porn stars. It is amazing how we fight to not be pigeon-holed as a stereotype, but so many of you do just the same and mock people with faith. Shame.

Many of their cries of persecution are the result of their own loveless attitudes. They bring their problems upon themselves, it’s their bad salt —

If those in the fundamentalist world would practice that towards the LGBT community, they would be so much more happier.
Fundamentalists often quote 2 Chron 7:14…….Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
In other words, these same fundamentalists should ‘turn from their wicked ways’ of loveless rhetoric and attitudes towards LGBT folks. They should seriously understand Matthew 5:46…..If you love only those who love you, what reward will you get? and Luke 6:35……..But love those you don’t like (LGBT’s in this example) and DO GOOD TO THEM…….and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is loving towards all kinds of people.

Isn’t Queerty getting al little ahead of itself? The latest news is that the repeal failed in a special session of the Legislature that was called for that purpose. They will likely take it up at their next regular session in January. For now, the law still stands.

First and foremost, I love that we gays see something like this and the first thought I’d wager at least a strong majority of us thought, was, “Okay, these guys are kind of hot.” Haha that alone shows how awesome we are, but also maybe how shallow we are. Whatever it indicates, it’s funny
Anyway, it’s consistently hilarious to me how deathly afraid folks like this are of gays. This is literally only about human rights–nothing else. And they have twisted it into this dramatic, over the top, theatrical production about a war on straights/Christian’s/religion/freedom/business, you name it! All of us are just here, bone faced serious, and totally normal like, “yo I’m a person don’t discriminate against me” then they respond with this foolishness. And we’re the fags? Come on guys. It’s human rights. That’s it. No one wants to assault you or your children in a bathroom. We just want to be treated with dignity and respect. Which involves basic human rights.
Third… I mean, did anyone else not see this video and think about that article I read earlier on Queerty about “BudSex” or whatever the “straight” men are calling it? Brothers or not, I feel like these two have at the very least banged a woman together, if not just straight up fondled each other. I feel like they probably got caught as kids, and were whooped to death, and now have PSTD over their own gayness.
Sorry one last thing, someone else said it earlier: they may be attractive but this video makes them very undesirable. As funny as my first point is above, I couldn’t agree more, and I think what makes us, LGBT, even better–our ability to come back to what really matters. You guys (in the video) are deeply ugly human beings, and there aren’t enough weights you can lift to hide that hideousness. A complete lack of empathy, hateful spirit, a vicious othering, nature. These “pick and choose to suit their own purpose” Christians no NOTHING about what it is to be persecuted, condemned and sacrificed for a belief or way of thinking. Since the fall of Rome and the basic steam rolling of Christianity over the world, they should take a look at what was done to so called “heathens” and other religions of the last 2000 + years.
If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand…if a minuscule/ non-important “celebrity” says anything anti LGBT (the worse the better, for them) gets to bask in the national spotlight for another few seconds. This usually happens when Media Craving Attention Whores feel that they are not getting the attention they require to continue to breathe.

I suspect that for many of us on a comment board like this “Christian” is shorthand for fundamentalist/evangelical/charismatic Christians. Not all of you folks. I for one have friends who are Christian clerics, and have nothing but love and respect for them as they understand the true message of Christianity I think.
But these guys are to Christianity as a whole as the salafi (wahabi) are to Islam as a whole: practitioners of a warped philosophy that gives them the right to scorn, discriminate, marginalize or worse, in the name of their God.

But “scripture” holds no sway over a secular country: which is what the US is as defined by the constitution and bill of rights. And blasphemy is a rather quaint concept that is irrelevant to those of other or no faith. I cannot blaspheme against (for example) “the new testament” because the Christian Gods are not recognized by me. It is simply a collection of odd ancient writings, representing a retreat from monotheism encouraged by the Romans.
