According to his campaign website, Jon Stanard of the Utah House of Representatives, identifies as “a strong advocate for conservative family values. I am Pro Life, as well as for Traditional Marriage.”
“The most important thing in Jon’s life is his family. He enjoys being able to spend time with his wife and three children every chance he can get,” the website also claims.
He also apparently likes to spend time with prostitutes in budget hotel rooms paid for by taxpayers.
Adult film star Brie Taylor tells the Daily Mail that Stanard paid her $250 for sex on two separate occasions while the “family values” politician was on business trips. And she has the receipts to prove it.

Taylor alleges Stanard first contacted her her March 7, 2017 while he was in Salt Lake City for work, with a text that read: “Looking at your website. Can you meet?”
In a second text, he wrote: “Would need to be tonight. Only in town a little. Anytime. Can do in or out. At hotel in downtown SL.”
Taylor was unavailable to meet that evening because her 10-year-old son was sick, but the two eventually arranged to meet at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott Hotel in Downtown Salt Lake City on June 20.
She says he was “a gentleman.”
“He opened the door and he was very nice,” she recalls. “We chatted just briefly and then I got changed out of what I was wearing into lingerie.”
Afterwards, Stanard asked to see her again.
“He said he comes up to Salt Lake a lot and he would like to see me again. He said he never does this sort of stuff in St. George because it is really culturally strict down there.”
They met again on August 22 at the same hotel.

Prostitution is illegal in Utah and Stanard has been a vocal advocate for increasing the punishments for it.
House Chief of Staff Greg Hartley now says the House is investigating whether the disgraced lawmaker used taxpayer funds to pay for the hotel rooms on the days he allegedly hired Taylor as well as if his misused his state-issued cellphone.
“If the allegations prove to be true, we may request he reimburse the state for any hotel payment that exists that we can match up,” he said.
Stanard has been keeping a low profile ever since the scandal broke, although his lawyer did issue the following statement:
Given the current climate in this country with misconduct allegations and the way things are happening in the media right now, there isn’t any explanation that my client could give that would overcome the shadow of these allegations.
Ah, yes. The old “blame the media” excuse.
Stanard resigned from office last week citing “immediate personal and family concerns.”

I feel the most sympathy for the children. Think of being a Trump child with all these accusations of marital infidelity. My dad had an affair and eventual marriage with my mom’s best friend and it was so tramatic for me at 9 and we were unkown but to a few people. They also have advantages that most of us will not have ever. We do not choose our parents and have to live with what they do. Imagine being the son or daughter of a Nazi general. Or like the daughter of Stalin!!

Everyone has a skeleton in their closet. This politician may not like gays but he was very courteous to the woman, who supports her sick son. Nobody got hurt as a result of their tryst. I say give him a break.

All politicians lie. Some are better liars than the others. Some lie for good reasons. This guy has lied about his family value to his constituents but I am sure he will recover from the scandal eventually. Other than using the taxpayer’s money for his hotel, which should be covered by the government if he was on a business trip, it was just a small mistake on his part. True, his behavior was less than exemplary but he is a politician, not a priest.

So he wanted to increase penalties on paid sex work but he was secretly seeing a sex worker. And he’s a “family values” Republican touting how moral he is but he’s defying his church’s teachings on adultery, patronizing sex workers, etc. Soooo hypocritical and so typical.
It comes down to a basic question: why don’t people like him just get psychological help for their issues rather than penalizing everyone else around them by imposing oppressive laws and penalties on others because of these hypocrites internal torment and self-repression?
