Check out the latest YouTube clip making us Glee-ful: A sexy, new music video featuring Kevin McHale, who played Artie Abrams on the Fox musical comedy, stripping down and showering with another man.
McHale’s “James Dean” music video, directed by Justin Thorne, shows the Glee alum and Pose actor Johnny Sibilly portraying the “sweet and sexy-ish” moments of a relationship,” which they improvised “while not taking ourselves too seriously,” as McHale tells HuffPost.

“We wanted a shower, we wanted it to feel a little editorial, we wanted it super simple, but we didn’t exactly know how it’d all come together,” he adds. “We had a loose idea of what we wanted, and luckily Johnny is a beautiful saint and was down to just try it all out.”
How about we take this to the next level?

The two men don’t just get wet, they also paint face. “I think men playing around with makeup is a wonderful thing,” says McHale, who publicly come out as gay in 2018 and who is in a relationship with Austin McKenzie. “I think showing how that can be attractive is a positive thing … keeping it playful and sweet was the goal so we could show different sides to a relationship.”

Best of all, proceeds from June sales of “James Dean” will go toward the Trevor Project, funding the organization’s LGBTQ suicide prevention efforts. McHale’s new EP, Boy, will be released through Vydia on June 21.
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
Always found him adorkable on Glee….
tzwicky
Dunno if they’re still an item, but I would much rather have seen Kevin McHale and his boyfriend Austin McKenzie in that shower scene.
BigRedEO
Could be a decent song if his voice wasn’t so auto-tuned to death.
OzJosh
It’s a vocoder effect, which actually distorts vocals, not “corrects” them. Autotune is entirely different and generally undetectable.
rodzilla
I’ll have to take your word on that one Big Red. Although I’m usually pretty eclectic musically, I can’t listen to more that the 1st 20 secs of that song. B4 writing him off completely I did give his HELP ME NOW a listen & enjoyed that. But was he the guy in the chair on GLEE? Now I’m a little disappointed they didn’t hire an actual mobility challenged person. Ah well, Happy Pride everyone!
Brian
“Autotune” has become a generic description of vocal effects on a song, the same way “Kleenex” means tissue. Don’t be that guy who feels the need to correct people to show off.
NateOcean
I, too, couldn’t stand this song due to the excessive use of auto-tune. Now that it’s been explained that this is a vocoder effect, I love it!
Thanks

So you are saying that rather than correct someone, they should be allowed to continue in ignorance. Don’t quite get that.
And while you may incorrectly assume autotune is used as a generic for vocal filtering, it is not. When people use that term they assume the singer has intonation problems and needs their pitch corrected.
Which is not the case here.
Or would you rather that you did not know that?
dwes09
Actually not a bad song. But the producer should be fired. It would sound so much better without the filtering, and predictable homogenized pop arrangement.

Now that’s my kinda ‘water sports’ …
nm4047
what happened to the buffed body that was the attention on queerty not that long ago, or was that as equally manipulated as the this guys voice.
Viktor Zavadsky
nice to know that homely doleful white boys with no talent get to try and fail – delusions of adequacy…
Donston
There’s definitely more than a handful of middling non-white folks who get attention and “chances” primarily for being “queer” (Milan Christopher anyone?). However, it’s obvious that this song and his singing career are very unlikely to go anywhere.
bvick1636
That video could have aired on the DISNEY CHANNEL as far as content, however they wouldn’t air music that stinks like that song does.
Scott Amundsen
You ain’t just kidding; that song sucks like a baby with a pacifier.
MountainCowboyMan
Wow, this is just as bad as he was faking being disabled & in a wheelchair. He might want to get a real job for once in his life.
Hdtex
Bitter?
Terrycloth
Kevin can sing ..don’t know why he uses autotune.that turned me off of the song.its so obvious…
Inspector 57
Uhhh… Okay.
Well, ummm, at least it was a gay video with two guys shirtless and neither of them was covered with tattoos. There is that.
Aromaeus
Kevin’s got a nice voice and I always enjoyed his duets with Amber Riley when they were on Glee. I like this song more than Help Me Now but Help Me Know is catchier and is the one that gets stuck in my head more. I hope he finds success in his music career.
jcoberkrom
I enjoyed Kevin on Glee, but he might want to reconsider his career choices.
whateverokok
What is it with gay musicians coming out and all of sudden their music is all gayed up. Their music videos have all these hunky guys doing gay things and what not. When it really wasn’t there before. When Michael Stipe finally came out, R.E.M.’s music didn’t all of sudden become gay with hot gay music videos. They stayed the same. Nothing about them changed. It makes no sense.
Cam
If he wanted the attention he should have come out while GLEE was still on the air.
Hdtex
He has very questionable taste in furniture. Hard pass from me dawg.
Craig
Wasn’t as bad as all the comments made it seem. Nothing special or groundbreaking, but not the worst I’ve ever heard either.
stan2015
Not impressed
nitejonboy
I’ve wanted to fuk him ever since GLEE, but I don’t dig his singing, he should stick to acting. Or porn, lol…
CurtisIsTheOne
I could have done without the:
1] Clickbait “Strips and Showers” headline. Why do something like this that takes NO risks? I didn’t even see a belly button. The ONLY reason I watched the video to the end was to see some R or even PG-13 action AND
2] Vocoder / “Autotuned” voice which makes this a “throw away” song. Now if he sang like Eddie Vedder that would have been something to write home about. I forgot this song the moment it ended.
Terrycloth
Vocoder or autotune if he can sing , why does he feel the need to use either ? We hear it. Maybe the producer mixed it that way if so as an artist i would be very upset if I didn’t know it was used. I know its practically a given alot of singers these days use it…don’t become one of them
