In case you still haven’t heard, Donald Trump abruptly fired FBI Director James Comey Tuesday night amidst rumors that the bureau’s investigation into the president’s ties to Russia were heating up bigly. Naturally, a nationwide frenzy ensued.
This is only the second time in history that an FBI Director has been let go. The fact that he was canned by the president while investigating the president only makes it all the more suspicious. Oh, and did we mention he learned of his sudden unemployment by a breaking news report on TV?
After the story broke, the press went wild. Meanwhile, the White House scrambled to explain itself. During the chaos, Press Secretary Sean Spicer gave an impromptu briefing with Fox Business from the White House grounds… then literally disappeared into the shadows.
Reporters went looking for him. He was found a few minutes later hiding near a cluster of dark bushes. When he saw the reporters, he ducked behind a tall hedge. When he was approached, he freaked out at the cameramen and said, “Just turn the lights off! Turn the lights off! We’ll take care of this. … Can you just Turn. That. Light. Off?!”

After the Washington Post published a story claiming Spicer was hiding “in” the bushes, someone (presumably Spicer) demanded the paper clarify that he wasn’t “in” the bushes, he was “among” the bushes. The Post acquiesced and printed the following correction:

Boy! Do you people get things wrong! Spicer is in the Reserves. He was on his OWN TIME preparing for military duty. He wanted to avert being grilled while trying to concentrate on his other duties. This has been verified. Let’s make up another anti-Trump story!

What? I’m sorry – but that is a ludicrous statement. On his own time or not – it doesn’t matter – there have been times in my life that I have worked 90 hour weeks – there was not a time, for whatever reason that I thought it appropriate to toss professionalism to the wind and act out. Sorry. Story? What piece do you question?
1. That Trump fired FBI director Comey – who held a protected 10 year term, until Trump fired him?
2. That Spicer is the press secretary for President Trump?
3. That Spicer went out and gave a briefing to Fox and then tried to flee from the rest of the press?
4. That Spicer’s job at the White House IS to be grilled and if he wasn’t ready for that he should NOT HAVE TAKEN THE JOB?
5. That if he was on Naval time and was instead at the WhiteHouse, he was failing in his duties in the reserves, and if he wasn’t on Naval time then his duty was to be press secretary?
People like you are the very reason that dialog in this country can’t lead anywhere – because you won’t function in the same reality as the rest of people.
