And since we must grow older, perhaps we owe it to ourselves to grow into a sort of handsomely weathered Superhero Ernest Hemingway character. Or… perhaps a somewhat enhanced Mark Twain.
A man of great dignity. And of mighty heart.
A fellow who takes great pride in his appearance — and in the fact that he churns his own butter.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
EducateInspireChange.org has assembleda cachet of photos featuring men who are not so much aging gracefully as just being incredibly hot irregardless of age, and there’s nothing not to like about that.
These men stand as a hearty reminder that with a little self-invention (and a lot of magnificent beard), you can package yourself as a force to be reckoned with — at absolutely any stage in life.
We can't rely on mainstream media to tell our stories. That's why we don't lock Queerty articles behind a paywall. Will you support our mission with a contribution today?
@Jack Meoff: Yeah, it actually can if they’ve been fit all along. Look up telomeres (parts of chromosomes that control aging). Exercise is thought to lengthen telomeres, which is thought to slow the aging process down.
However, older guys this fit — and especially if any of them are gay — probably aren’t opposed to some botox, fillers and/or maybe even a nip/tuck here and there.
Irvin Randle’s hot, as is Anthony Varrecchia. That 80 year old Chinese model Deshun Wang blows my mind. Bottle that up and sell whatever that is, please!
@Masc Pride: That’s very interesting. I didn’t know that and yah to science explanations. You can tell from those that stay fit their entire lives they look younger in their mature years as opposed to the non fit ones though. That is unless they did drugs and boozed too much.
I’m puzzled by what some of you think men over 50 actually look like. It varies. A LOT of them actually have full gray beards and gray hair like the men in these photos.
I am 53, and i am bald, so wtf? this is a list of models with thick long hair.(testosterone depleted men.)Why no bald heads? I won Mr.Leather in my region and i only have have hair on my chin and body. Chrome dome. this is like having the teen age girls in a frenzy cuz they don’t look like the beauty magazine models.
I am done with queerty for a while. it’s all B.S. bye!
Some of these guys are handsome but I was quite surprised at a few of their ages. They look a lot older than their listed age. 2 guys aged 50 and that one Alessandro guy who isn’t even 50 who I would’ve guessed is around 60. I don’t know if its too much sun or the gray hair making them look older, but they would be salty with me if they asked me to guess their age. I would’ve put at least ten extra years on a few of them….AT LEAST!!
Almost all of them look like they’re trying way too hard to look hip. A 50 year old woman shouldn’t dress or try to look like a 25 year old. And neither should a man.
And I too have to question some of their stated ages.
Most of the men pictured here are professional models (many of the pictures from fashion shoots). So it is not a matter of “aging gracefully” as mush as one of maintaining one’s brand and marketability. If you never had the benefit of high distinct cheekbones, an aquiline nose or lapis colored eyes, age will not grant them.
Aging gracefully is more about staying in as good a shape as you can, and not clinging to the aspects of use that look clownish on older folks (put down the hair dye, foundation and extreme clothing fads; and DEFINITELY resist the botox and surgery). Wearing your confidence and wisdom adds to your attractiveness more than an eye lift possibly could.
Why all the muscles? What about just regular bodies and not spending all their time in the gym knocking themselves out to be muscular? Like the average woman is a size 16, what about average older men without all the muscles and manes?
so over 50 hell 49 equals grey hair. Really? This has made me ask my bf to document me for the next three years and then I will re-evaluation this comment as if I have solid grey hair in three years the eff that! and I agree why is everyone so buff? were are the Dad bods. you can be hot and not a guy bunny. so much for a new look or was that only surface?
It always takes an out of shape queen to trivialize physical fitness. To hear some of you so-called gay men talk you’re proud of statistics showing that an alarming number of gay men are unhappy about the condition and appearance of their bodies.
But you do have a choice, and that’s what a lot of you seem to keep overlooking all the time. You can choose to a.) get in shape, or b.) continue playing the blame game and portraying the gay media as unfairly promoting healthy bodies. Which in my estimation is pretty dumb! Or worse yet c.) shaming that physical fitness leads to vanity. Meanwhile the sight of you making that argument is literally hurting everybody’s eyes, lol. It’s not you’re ill-informed. You just enjoy spreading misinformation.
I’m no Greg Plitt, but I’d never trivialize physical fitness. Quite frankly I think a lot of you are just insecure about lacking the discipline necessary to be in better shape. Which makes you overreact in ways that come across as self-conscious, because you know how unattractive your lack of discipline actually is to the motivated. And when all it takes is discipline… And the stress of being overly-judgmental preaching against physical fitness to other gay men makes zero sense as a healthy alternative at all, but like I said some of you choose that option all the time.
Some of us gay men quite enjoy our fitness lifestyles. I love that they’re showing physically fit older male bodies. Gives men like myself hope that we won’t have to stop working out for lack of progress for quite some time to come; there is still progress in maturity. (And the only time we have to deal with out-of-shape sourpusses like He BGB is on internet message boards, lol.)
Not that that handsome 49 year old Eric Rutherford should seem like such a stretch for his age looks-wise. But 53 year old Anthony Varecchia was especially an enticing vision for me to take in. Very nice indeed gentlemen!!
They may be fit but I don’t understand all the grey hair. I don’t have grey hair yet most of these men are in my age group. That’s a crock if that’s the part that means they’re aging gracefully.
After 60 years gay life, these men are inspiring to me. I can still attract men half my age but I do not care to. I like a well preserved elderly man like I enjoy a well aged wine. Also BTW I have never, ever dated a man without facial hair. It’s what we men do. We grow beards and mustaches. Sorry twinkles you are not, nor ever have been in my zone. These guys pictured are beautiful. Aging gracefully is hard work – eating well, working out, easy on the drugs. Plus lucky genes of course. My high school mates are amazed at the way I look, and I am horrified at the way most of them look, walk, and moan about their disabilities. 75 is the new 45 as far as I can see.
No offence, but why are all of them mostly or entirely gray? lol They also needed to put Greg Louganis on here, because he looks as amazing as ever at 56.

While these guys all look great I question some of the ages stated for them. Having a good body later in life does not take years off your face.
Masc Pride

@Masc Pride: The point I was making is that some of these guys look older than their stated ages. Some by about 10 years.

I’d say a little bit of the art of….photoshopping and…… premature grey hair along with very mature looks by wearing grandpa clothes.
ChrisK
@Masc Pride: That’s very interesting. I didn’t know that and yah to science explanations. You can tell from those that stay fit their entire lives they look younger in their mature years as opposed to the non fit ones though. That is unless they did drugs and boozed too much.

Lastly, some of them like Mr Rutherford has grey highlighted hair. Yeah, that’s graceful. Lol
charlie_jackpot
I wouldn’t say that spending a lot of your time in the gym is graceful.

All very sexy men.. Love Love gray hair.. would date a couple.. these men look older than their said age.. except Mr. Wang and Mr. Rutherford

Having said that, gray hair is VERY sexy!
Phil H
Well, whoever wrote this article has a type…
A few sexy 50+ chubs, bears, and bare faced hotties would not go amiss.

Wow, did I miss something? Since when 48 or 50 is OLD?
Captain Obvious
I hope this is aimed at men who refuse to date men their own age and not twinks who have every right to experience boys their own age.

Repulsive. Not the age, but the unbelievably nasty beards and hair. THIS is the new normal? Vile.
cubfredfrance
Some of the ages are not right and it’s sad to hear that 50 is old! Plus getting old means having the same body standard as a 25-yr old?
Bromancer7
Almost all of them look like they’re trying way too hard to look hip. A 50 year old woman shouldn’t dress or try to look like a 25 year old. And neither should a man.

@JJinAus: I agree! I hate beards on anyone and these guys look like Santa. Btw, I’m 53 and my hair isn’t grey, except for a few strands.

@dwes09: Age won’t grant typing skills or better vision either! MUCH, not mush and YOUTH, not use. Best learn to rock those reading glasses!

Spending one’s life in the gym and posting half-naked pics on Instagram is hardly the art of aging gracefully.

Anthony Varecchia is your typical bottom feeder queen that’s a prostitute, HIV+ and into barebacking, he uses steroids, and is not that handsome.
