Out rugby star Keegan Hirst didn’t cut any corners in his homage to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and his hard work and dedication paid off in the form of a shoutout from Mr. The Rock himself.
Halloween may still be weeks away, but Hirst posted a video to social media of his Rock costume, and impression, to celebrate a different holiday: Mad Monday.
Mad Monday marks the end of the Australian National Rugby League season, with fans and players known to get a bit rowdy.
Hirst took the opportunity to wear a Rock speedo and offer up this WWE-style speech:
And wouldn’t you know it — his performance was enough to capture the attention of The Rock himself.
Johnson commented: “Well done bro and ITS DOESNT MATTER IF YOU CAME BACK TO #MADMONDAY.”
Hirst wrote in an update: “So @TheRock tweeted back. #madmonday complete.”

So about yesterday….. Mad Monday history was made when @therock tweeted me back after he saw the video of me doing the #madmonday promo. Safe to say, I’ve peaked! Although I’m feeling a bit worse for wear today. 2nd Super League season ? Mad Monday ? Get a reply from The People’s Champ ? 2018 season, you’ve been a blast. #rugbyleague #superleague #thepeopleschamp #tweetoftheday
