Rarely can something as common as a kiss be described as “history in the making,” but the lip-lock pictured above is believed to be a first for the Royal Canadian Navy.
As a matter of tradition, sea vessels returning to the Canadian homeland commemorate the moment with a “first kiss.” A sailor is chosen in a raffle to be the first off the ship — a notable honor given the many months at sea — where a loved one awaits with open arms and puckered lips.
In this case that sailor was Master Seaman (tee-hee) Francis Legare, and he planted a passionate kiss on his hot bearded partner, Corey Vautour (below), who’d been excitedly waiting on the dock below.
“I have been away for 255 days, so it feels great,” Legare said. “I am speechless.”
How about we take this to the next level?

Besides the overwhelmingly tender moment between the reunited sweethearts, the best part is the crowd’s reaction. In the below video, you’ll hear a chorus of cheers — a clear sign of the times. You don’t have to reach too far back to a time when this would not have been received with such enthusiasm.
“We are reflective of society and we do recruit across all across society,” Rear Admiral Gilles Couturier, commander of the Pacific Navy, said. “If we don’t adapt, we won’t have any sailors joining.”

I look forward to the day when this doesn’t make headlines.

This is gorgeous. They are so cute and adorable!

Very sweet, and watching it I started getting teary-eyed. The coverage of the story on the TV news station was excellent as well.

@HereinNYC: I look forward to the day when people stop saying “I look forward to the day when this doesn’t make headlines.”

Wonderful! Made me feel good! People are beginning to treat us as equals, rather than second-class.

Not surprised…in Canada, the country that legalised same-sex marriages 11 years ago, and decrminalised homosexuality in 1969…

Gosh, that’s just wonderful! More exposure helps with familiarity and acceptance. Bravo! Thanks guys.
Nice backdrop (no sarcasm intended) THAAT’s the biggest flag I have ever seen that wasn’t at a car dealer’s. USA, USA!

I doubt Coyote News would cover this story.

Must be love, love ,love! Love is all we need!
Ain’t love Grand!
Love must be the Answer!
…………and so much more, so nice, at least for some, where you don’t have to hind your feelings. I remember when my man (nervous as hell! ) gave me a kiss in the middle of Sydney on his way to work……….he hasn’t looked back, doesn’t think twice these days!
Paco
It seems no one gets cleaned up for special occasions anymore.
Billy Budd
@Paco: How do you know the cute, cute boyfriend is not clean? Just because he has a messy beard?
Paco
@Billy Budd: Looks like he just rolled out of bed.
Gary_Gans
@Paco: I suspect he didn’t sleep last night because of the anxiety of reuniting. And if we think of the facts. It’s cold in Canada, his partner looked handsome as he was, and likely they could be heading back to bed anyways. I didn’t see any disappointment from his partner. Love is great.

@sfbeast
It was so lovely to see.

I would never partake of something as public as this. Intimate kisses belong inside, not outside. Same thing applies to heterosexual couples.

Sweethearts this kiss makes the Victoria news every time a ship comes back after a long deployment.

@Xzamilio:
LOL! Yes!
Tobi
@Brian: “I would never partake of something as public as this.” You have nothing to worry about. It’s not going to happen to you. 😛
Stefano
@Tobi: love it !
scotshot
@Brian: You have nothing to worry about. Trolls only kiss each other under bridges, and not even Trolls find a blob like you attractive.

@Paco: A person who wears a beard is not clean? Do keep up.
Paco
@scotshot: The beard isn’t the issue. If you equate “cleaning up”, and looking like you made an effort to look nice, with shaving off a beard, then I can’t help you.
XzamiIio
I like seamen in my butt.

@Paco: Funny, he blended in with the rest of the crowd, his clothes looked clean and new, just like the rest of the guys. The look you can buy at Bloomingdales, Nordstrom or Barney’s. If you expected a suit and tie, well that’s a difference in opinion and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Chris
Beautiful; and the crowd’s acceptance just adds to the event.
