Jesús Vázquez is Spanish TV presenter, who has served as host for the Spanish versions of “The Voice”, “X Factor,” and “Spain’s Got Talent,” as well as “Survivor” and pretty much every other major reality TV competition in Spain over the last decade or so.

He’s sorta like a Spanish Ryan Seacrest. But cuter. And gay.

55-year-old Vázquez recently appeared on the debut episode of the show “Mi Casa Es Su Casa” with Bertín Osborne, where he recalled the day he first told his parents he was giving up his career as a veterinarian to study dramatic arts and, oh yeah, he was also gay.

“I sat them down and told them that I was going to live with a boyfriend,” Vázquez said. “My father got up and left. I don’t think he knew how to react. And my mother started to cry a few tears and told me ‘I knew it’.”

While his parents didn’t take the news so well at first, Vázquez noted that his brothers were much more supportive.

Vázquez also talked about Pablo Alborán, the Spanish pop star who made headlines earlier this summer when he came out as gay.

“He has freed himself from having to hide and having those awkward situations when asked about girlfriends,” he said “Additionally, he may have helped a queer boy or a girl who might still be struggling.”

Vázquez added, “I wish a person’s sexuality didn’t have to be news! It’s time to normalize it.”
