Over the last few years, Star Wars fans have vociferously requested gay subplots start getting weaved into the story.
Well, actor John Boyega has heard those pleas and he ardently agrees.
Asked by Metro whether the franchise has a responsibility to become “more progressive and inclusive,” Boyega said:
“There definitely is that responsibility, but more the responsibility to hire those from those experiences to share their creative light, that’s the pivotal thing.
Because if you just hire the same sort of people you’re just getting the same sort of film. It’s not wrong, but then there’s a lack of variety. I think ‘Pacific Rim’ handles that in a very unique way.”
Later, Boyega addresses fans who believe his character Finn should get romantically ensnared in a steamy relationship with Poe Dameron (played by Oscar Isaac).
How about we take this to the next level?

Boyega says he strongly believes Poe is in love with Finn.
“I think that Oscar is always looking at me with love in his eyes, and I guess that the fans saw it. And then they realized that either he needs to chill or come out.”
We’ll just have to wait and see if they get up in each other’s business when Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters December 15th.
Ummmm Yeah
This whole thing is so stupid. They were barely on the screen together and both are bad actors and characters whole time. The only thing that needs to chill are the crazies making stuff up that didn’t happen and doesn’t need to. The only time sex has ever come up in the Star Wars universe it was to promote the story. That’s why only five characters have a sexuality out of seven movies. Luke/Leia/Hans and Vader/Padme.

Oh look, one of Mo Bro’s anti-LGBT screenames hates the idea of any visibility for lgbt people. What a shock.

I don’t think the black guy is a bad actor but I do think he was wrong for this particular part/type of movie. His looks don’t fit the action figure type. He looks more suited for a football/soccer/sports type setting.
Godabed
@Bob lablah wtf kind of nonsense are you talking about. He doesn’t look like an action star but a sports player… i can’t tell if you’re serious or just r@cist or if you’re a person of color self hating. Most action stars played sports of some kind… seriously wtf
Ummmm Yeah
Oh look you are as delusional about this imagined romance as you are about everything else.

If it was always intended that the character or characters be gay that’s cool, but PLEASE don’t suddenly make him/them gay just to satisfy some Political Correctness bullshit and/or ‘slash’ fans. We want equality, which includes equal representation, not pandering. We have been and continue to be pandered to. It’s gotten tiresome.

First of all, I saw “Stars Wars” first in 1977. I fell in love with the movie so much, I saw it 37 times in the theaters. That year ALONE.
I’ve seen all of the other sequels, prequels, side stories, read most of the books and lusted after most of the male characters. Except Three-P-O.. All that shiny metal. Yech. On the other hand, I COULD learn to like Wookies. All that soft fur…., those big brown eyes…… those huge muscles…….
What the hell were we talking about?
Oh yeah. I don’t watch Star Wars for the sex. The sexiest thing I ever heard was when Leia told Han in “The Empire Strikes Back” that she’d “just as soon kiss a Wookie,” to which Han replied “I can arrange that… he could use a good kiss.” The kiss in the same movie was awkward.
Having said that….. it doesn’t bother me to think of a bro-mance between Finn and Poe Dameron. Unfortunately, Finn’s character is too busy evolving into the next Han Solo, and Poe’s character is too busy evolving into the next Luke Skywalker. There was never a bro-mance between Luke and Han, and there probably will never been one between Finn and Poe. It’d be like Jaba exerting his manliness on Jar Jar Binks, who as us Star Wars nerds know, could also probably “use a good kiss.”
I do find it provocatively interesting that the brethern out there thinks there should be a Finn-Poe one-on-one. They’re two sexy dudes with bodies to die for, so yeah, there’s nothing wrong with that visual picture.
Except, it ain’t never gonna happen.
