4,100 (and counting) students, faculty, and staff at the University of Texas in Austin have vowed to bring giant rubber dildos to class in protest of new gun legislation signed by antigay Gov. Greg Abbott.

The event is being held in response to a law signed by Abbott, who opposes both gay marriage and gay divorce, back in June. The law permits licensed gun holders to carry concealed weapons on university campuses beginning in August 2016. The law has been nicknamed the “campus carry” law.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
The official Facebook event page reads:
The State of Texas has decided that it is not at all obnoxious to allow deadly concealed weapons in classrooms, however it DOES have strict rules about free sexual expression, to protect your innocence. You would receive a citation for taking a DILDO to class before you would get in trouble for taking a gun to class. Heaven forbid the penis.

According to the official University of Texas rule book: “No person or organization will distribute or display on the campus any writing or visual image, or engage in any public performance, that is obscene.” Doing so, the rule book states, is a Class C misdemeanor, which can carry up to a $500 fine.
But organizers are undeterred. They are encouraging everyone to “strap gigantic swinging dildos to our backpacks in protest of campus carry.” The protest is scheduled for August 24, 2016, right around the time the “campus carry” law goes into effect.
“Just about as effective at protecting us from sociopathic shooters, but much safer for recreational play,” the protest’s tagline reads.
We look forward to seeing how this plays out.

Do these tools really not realize that the wack-jobs who commit mass murder are TARGETING gun-free zones—like schools—and not staying away due to feel-good laws implemented by like-minded idiots?
Sigh . . . the stupidity of the Left never fails to entertain.
AtticusBennett
it’s bloody brilliant. america is still a nation where millions are angrier at seeing two men hold hands, or a woman claim ownership of her own sexuality, than seeing not only a nation of open-carrying morons, but a nation that frankly doesn’t give a flying F**K about your epidemic gun violence.
these students are brilliantly calling out this preposterous gun-worshipping culture that needs to be dismantled. a sex toy is harmful and obscene, and guns are peachy.
kudos.

A lot of “urban” high schools frisk students for knives and guns (including my high school way back in the 1970s), and a lot now have metal detectors. I guess that’s the way of the future for colleges, until the gun nuts all shoot themselves while cleaning their guns.
@BJ McFrisky: Airports are gun-free zones. Do you object to that?
Jeffrey Thomas
Why are they making it easier for mass murderers to carry their weapons into the schools?

I love some of the comments on the page! Especially the more guns is the answer to the gun problem in America. Magneto said it best “You homo sapiens and your guns”

a well-armed nation is a failed one.

I own several firearms. I do hunt duck, deer and elk but that’s a different argument. @BJ McFrisky: The stupidity of your remark is not entertaining.

Well said McFrisky, these like some posters are blind sheep. To take away guns from law-abiding citizens is what the let wing nut jobs want. That way they can control you and there would be no resistance. All people want to do is listen to the extremists left wing nut jobs. If we as LGBT community think they support us, try doing some unbiased research. The comments made to other crowds are not what they tell us. Each speech is dedicated to the audience they speak to. Another issue, i you take away the right to defend ourselves against victimization, what happens? You still get killed. Take away guns from law abiding citizens then only the criminals have guns……yes they still get them. Any doubt…….the guns killing people in Chicago and other places…so the criminals get their guns no matter what. Where you have money you get guns. Our founding fathers, many of whom you have never read because they conveniently leave them out of textbooks, and most recently Ronald Regan said it best. The country that fears their leaders make better leaders. We can vote, as if it really counts. He also said a government that governs least governs best. But when they start taking our rights away and we can’t stand against the corrupt government then what? You plan on say yes sir, I’ll do whatever you want. The stupidity of the American voter amazes me. They do not research they only listen to what the media wants them to hear. Case in Point. Your current worshiped president that could care less about your rights wrote in his own words, When the winds of the political environment change I will stand with my muslim brothers. Wasted words I know because you can’t educate the programmed people. Research if you want to find the truth. Or be like sheep and follow the lamb to slaughter.
Current day data indicates that since Obama took over we have dropped to the 12th freeist county from prior #4. http://www.heritage.org/index/ranking
To Quote our great founding father’s among many quotes:
“A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined…”
– George Washington, First Annual Address, to both House of Congress, January 8, 1790
“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”
– Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Constitution, Draft 1, 1776
“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.”
– Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, January 30, 1787
“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.”
– Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, December 20, 1787
“The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes…. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”
– Thomas Jefferson, Commonplace Book (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria), 1774-1776

Not gonna lie, I kinda love this idea.

And just where are these targets of mass murder……….gun free zones. Sure, makes sense to me. If I see a sign gun free zone and one that says students and teacher armed to protect. I will go to the latter. Applies to eating places or anywhere. You can choose to be an open target if you want. Not me.
enfilmigult
@BJ McFrisky: No, they don’t realize that…because it isn’t true. They do realize, however, that since the purpose of “gun-free zones” isn’t to act as a magical barrier that people with guns literally can’t walk through, criticizing them for not doing that is like criticizing a law against speeding for not making people’s accelerators lock up.
sportsguy1983
What a bunch of morons.
BlueDude
The paranoia, and stupidity, of all the American gun-fvckin-lovers totally amazes me, now more than ever. What’s worse, the it is the more ignorant classes who are so eager to be armed and carrying, scared of somebody “gonna come take they guns!” I live in the South, and gun purchases, among the rednecks, in particular, is all the hot topic. It’s 2015, and we’re reverting to Wild West barbarism.

@onthemark: BJ cannot afford a plane ticket
Andrew Yang
I could be wrong but were most of these mass murders throughout the US not committed by licensed gun holders? How is this going to solve anything other than promoting a group of licensed gun holders shooting at each other with others caught in the crossfire? Brilliant I say!
Daniel-Reader
Texas Gov. Abbott is in a wheelchair, so is signing this legislation part of his agenda to get more Texans to join his ranks? His way of recruiting?
Captain Obvious
All the little sheep who’ve never been trained to use a gun and don’t know anything about guns all say “BAAAAAAAAAA” on command and start deciding that no one should have access to a firearm because a few loonies shoot up random places.
Because no one has ever died to any other weapon and nothing else can be made into a weapon. Idiots.
That moment when you realize these morons don’t know that guns can be made out of a ton of different things so banning guns does absolutely nothing. 3D printers are already making cheap guns out of little of nothing with plastic bullets that can’t be traced back to the shooter but please do fall into the idiotic conspiracy that all guns should be banned because all armed people are irresponsible. Propaganda: successful.
Any of you little anti-gun morons ever stop to ask why the nation isn’t at war with people shooting up America? There are many gun owners and yet the majority of us have never shot anyone. Derp. Keep preaching anti-gun garbage you clueless jackasses. Just hope you never need to protect yourself against someone who’s armed, cowards. Maybe you can bring Karate to a gun fight.
