Some might argue that bald is a good look right now — hey, it definitely works for Taye Diggs.
But if you’re one of the 200 plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit agains “hairstylist to the stars” Chaz Dean and marketer Guthy-Renke, chances are it wasn’t the look you were going for.
The suit alleges that Dean’s WEN line of products, contrary to their claims of keeping your locks fresh and hydrated, actually cause severe scalp irritation and baldness.

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“I had started to get a bald spot, and then I found another one in the back, and that’s when I kind of started to get worried,” Tanya Norman, one of those represented, said. “I started bawling. I couldn’t stop crying.”
We’d be crying, too!
Celebrities like Brooke Shields, Angie Harmon and Alyssa Milano have all endorsed the WEN line.

Dean operates a bougie hair boutique out of Hollywood, CA, where he may suddenly find his client roster thinning as rapidly as his customers’ hairlines.
“What we understand about the product and how it causes hair loss is it contains virtually no cleanser,” attorney Amy Davis said. “It’s like using lotion to wash your hair, so instead of removing the product, when you rinse it off, it just becomes impacted in your hair follicle.”
The federal judge has issued a stay in the case, and the parties are proceeding to mediation.

Shame on you for such clickbait hackery. Shame.
There is a lawsuit. There is no proof that this product causes hair loss. Anecdotal evidence mean bubkas in real life. You may as well say the earth is flat because you can’t see the curve.
The circulating link was to a blog that covered class action lawsuits and was not a news article determining the merits of the claims. This is a conflated bout of nonsense currently as this is not news. IF – and this is a big IF – as there are similarly formulated products that are not dealing with this type of claim – they can prove that this product causes hair loss – then an article about the Wen founder etc. may be useful.
This article reads like “since this is a successful gay person, let’s find any excuse to be catty”. Well you dreadful baggage, schadenfreude is best savored from our enemies, not our compatriots.
The world can be a horrible place for LGBT people, I expect the gay oriented websites I visit to at least pretend to stick up for them in cases that possess ambiguity like this.
If I can research the complete information with just a little effort – and I mean teeeeeeeny tiny little- shame on your yellow journalism you egregious hacks.
Queerty is now on my ignore list.

@Essus67: Absolutely. Unless there was an actual scientific and medical study there is nothing under this article. It’s terrible yellow journalism similar to what we see on Fox News.
woodin
@essus67 & GIANCARLO85……the product hit the wall per suit.
Where is the scientific evidence the product worked and didn’t cause damage people claim?

I hate the stupid infomercials for that crap hope this means then end to them. Chaz Dean is a big old queen too.

@Essus67: Where there is smoke there is fire. The numerous lawsuits are the smoke, the hair loss the fire.

@Essus67: Thank God, so we won’t have to read your inane rants anymore.
The lawsuit was filed last year. It has class-action status. Investigations as to what is causing these women’s hairloss is ongoing. You simply cannot dismiss the allegations from multiple people because the investigative phase is still in progress.
