Vogue magazine can’t tell ‘Drag Race’ stars Shea Coulee and Bob The Drag Queen apart

Befuddled, beleaguered editorial assistants at Vogue evidently aren’t fanatical devotees to RuPaul’s Drag Race, and they clearly can’t tell Shea Couleé and Bob The Drag Queen apart.

A photo of Season 9 star Shea Couleé taken at NYC’s Drag Con was posted to the Vogue‘s Instagram account this week, but it ran alongside a quote from season 8 winner Bob the Drag Queen. Confusion and awkwardness reigned the land.

The caption begins: “Drag queens have been on the forefront of every single social movement for queer people…”

Irate readers were fast to point out Vogue got it wrong.

One writes: “How painful is it that you originally mistook Shea for Bob? Did someone get fired?”

“This is awkward,” noted another.

“Love the photo,” yet another wrote, “but this is Shea Couleé, not Bob the Drag Queen. You got the wrong Black Queen… seems pretty careless. Probably want to fix that ASAP….”

They’ve since rejiggered the post to read:

“Now more than ever, ‘with what is happening politically, what is happening socially, we are ambassadors for these young, gorgeous kids . . . the promise of America’s future,’ @rupaulofficial said the morning of @rupaulsdragcon. “We are hope.”
