The mass meltdown that is Donald Trump gave a speech at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C today, making him the first president ever to address the gathering of white supremacists, far right activists, and religious zealots.

Inside the swag bag handed out to participants was a flyer advertising a 607-page book “The Health Hazards of Homosexuality.” The book is published by Mass Resistance, which runs a website dedicated to “exposing” the evils of homosexuality.

The evangelicals believe that homosexuality “affects” only about 3% of the population, and that they need to be treated in the same way that drug addicts and sex offenders are: as weak individuals who have made self-destructive choices.
These are “firmly held religious convictions” so not only will facts not change them, but spreading “religious freedom” legislation legitimizes actions of both individuals and local jurisdictions based on them.
I don’t think that there is much real information to support the 15-20% notion unless you are lumping all those with bisexual tendencies as well as transgender identities in with obligate homosexuals.

What encourages self-destructive behaviors (and promiscuity is not intrinsically self-destructive unless you believe in std’s as god’s punishment and you two seem stupid enough to ascribe to that sort of superstition) is a society that shares the oppressive beliefs you ascribe to, and acts on them. There are mountains of empirical evidence to back that, involving both LGBT people and other groups discriminated against for a multitude of reasons by small minded folks such as yourselves.

* Homosexuality is rooted in perverted practices which defy nature
* Homosexual practices are often abusive and fithy

In a land of ridiculous lawsuits I hope many will sue over these ridiculous and slanderous claims. This is a dangerous book that -in essence- is no different to “Mein Kampf”, viciously attacking a group of people that just live their life.

I have been watching AHS asylum and the part where they try the aversion therapy is just horrible (it takes place in 1964). People would HAVE TO BE BORN GAY because who would choose this, and if that nightmarish therapy didn’t work, what proof do you need? I prayed myself to sleep every night to be “normal” when I was 10 or 11. Nothing happened.
If I read the Washington Post article correctly Trump didn’t bring up LGBT IN his speech just abortion and religious liberty (which I guess iscode for kill the gays). Unless he’s a dictator, I hope America would not let us lose our equality.

Based on his comments and the state legislation he has vocally supported (as well as his military trans ban), “religious liberty” talk is no longer code for anything. It is unambiguous support for the desire of “religious” people to discriminate based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and equally unambiguous call for the courts to uphold such behavior regardless of federal or state laws should the motives of those abridging rights and ignoring local regulations be motivated by supposed religious conviction (except of course if those actions be motivated by Muslim or Jewish or Satanist or other convictions).
