Hurricane Bianca warning! Bianca Del Rio was “thrilled and excited” to return to the cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie earlier this month… but less thrilled and excited to see one theatergoer videotaping one of her recent performances in the West End musical.

“Dear blonde bitch with glasses, Thanks for distracting the ENTIRE CAST and SEVERAL PEOPLE AROUND YOU as you filmed during all of ACT ONE with your phone in your hand,” the RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6 winner tweeted on December 28. “This is not a concert, theme park or even a cruise ship…… it’s THE THEATRE! RESPECT IT !”
Dear blonde bitch with glasses,
Thanks for distracting the ENTIRE CAST and SEVERAL PEOPLE AROUND YOU as you filmed during all of ACT ONE with your phone in your hand. This is not a concert, theme park or even a cruise ship…… it’s THE THEATRE! RESPECT IT ! @JamieMusical ?— Bianca Del Rio (@TheBiancaDelRio) December 29, 2019
Then, after one Twitter user deemed it “acceptable” to film a “comedy” show, Bianca set the misguided fellow straight, writing, “It’s a musical in the WEST END. The equivalent to BROADAWAY…….you F*CKTART.”
How about we take this to the next level?

In the musical — based on the 2011 BBC documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16 — Bianca plays Hugo a.k.a. Loco Chanelle, a retired drag queen who mentors a teen from a small English town who wants to attend his school prom in drag. (Drag Race judge Michelle Visage recently played Jamie’s teacher in the show.)
Bianca, a.k.a. Roy Haylock, returned to London’s Apollo Theatre on December 9 to start a 12-week reprise. “I had such a blast playing Hugo/Loco Chanelle earlier this year,” she said in a statement, per NewNowNext. “I’m honored and beyond grateful to have the opportunity to work with such an incredibly talented cast and crew once again.”

Even using a phone in the theatre is unacceptable, filming totally wrong. Person should have been thrown out and the phone confiscated.

maybe the theatre staff are the ones that should be the focus of the critic. I’m sure there is going to be commentary about respecting the performer etc, but the gay community is one of the largest abusers of intellectual property violation. How many websites are filled with porn productions that are not being paid for by each person that watches. Don’t have a clue about Roy Haylock but vast majority of drag shows mime to another performers production and don’t pay them any royalties or acknowledge/credit the original artists production. Now bring on those well engineered high horse critiques.

It’s perfectly legal for people to lipsync/use music in bars without paying royalties. That’s now how intellectual property law works. There are always exemptions. Live shows being one of them.

It would be a terrible shame if the person was Skyping with a disabled friend or someone special in another country who couldn’t be there. I did that at Cher in Las Vegas with my fiance (who lived in Brazil at the time, having not gotten his visa yet). He thought that was a very unexpected and kind gesture on my part, as she almost never tours in his country. No doubt Cher would have loved that. I made sure my screen light was on the lowest setting, however. It sounds like this person maybe had the screen bright. I have to agree with another commenter here. There should have been some kind of staff on hand to deal with that.

Translation: It’s ok to steal the show for someone who didn’t buy a ticket.

Theatre is different from a concert. It’s wrong to use a phone at all, it’s not fair on the rest of the audience, and it’s disrespectful to the performers.

Drag (and its fans) needs to leave its blind spot over its deep rooted misogyny back in the last decade.. now the general public i. e. “Fish” and “b*itches” are finally noticing —not before time!—and it’s not a good look! Do better

Who cares about the drag queen shit, only the aged old queers.

Considering RuPaul’s audience is mainly young, it’s interesting you’d try that comment.
