It all started when a user by the name of “father_figa” posted this question on a Reddit AMA thread:
Do any straight guys watch gay porn as a fetish rather than an aspect of your sexual orientation?
Followed by this confession:
It is my guess that a lot of straight guys consume gay porn. It is also my guess that the stigma of doing so is far less than it used to be. Many people today consider transsexual porn to be primarily of interest to straight males. I view it all but do not consider myself gay. I have a very high sex drive and perhaps a smattering of sexual addictions. I am happy with myself and my gf is fully aware of this. So, guys, tell me if i’m the only one.
As it turns out, he’s not the only one.
The post received almost 75 comments from allegedly straight dudes the world over talking about their interests in man-on-man porn, and offering a fascinating peek into the private masturbatory practices of heterosexual males.
“Sure do man,” one commenter said. “Not gay, no real intention to do a dude. But holy crap man, a man giving a blow job is so awesome, they just know what theyre doing.”
“Fuck it,” another person added. “I’ll be the one dude to be honest, yeah I watch some gay porn. I find they are less fake about it most times, a lot less fake moaning and such.”
“I watch gay porn because my dick tells me that’s what I want to be watching,” a third guy wrote. “I’m not gay, I just sometimes get this urge that says ‘watch a man rail another dude in the ass.’ ”
(We can relate. We sometimes get that urge, too.)
A few guys got even more specific about why they prefer watching two dudes go at it as opposed to a guy and a girl.
“I like the violence in some gay porn,” one gentleman said.
“I don’t like watching sloppy, gaggy blow jobs and on the whole gay porn has much cleaner bjs at least from what I’ve seen,” another one confessed. “I generally watch college vids, hazing type deals, straight for pay, nothing with kissing/caressing.”
“I don’t watch stuff with ‘masculine’ guys,” a third guy wrote. “I only watch twinks.”
Of course, not all straight guys said they enjoyed gay porn. Plenty admitted that the whole M4M thing just wasn’t for them.
“Nope, doesn’t interest me at all,” one guy said. “Honestly I have a difficult time with a lot of normal porn if there’s too much guy in it.”
(We can only assume by “normal” he meant “straight.”)
“I can’t maintain an erection when two gay dudes show up on the screen,” a second guy wrote.
“I certainly don’t seek it out because it doesn’t really do anything for me,” a third guy added, “but I’m not disgusted by it or anything. If it’s working for you, go for it.”
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Reddit thread without a few pieces of unsolicited advice. There was this helpful tidbit of wisdom:
“If you’re watching gay porn to get off you’re probably at least little tiny bit gay. Nothing wrong with that.”
And also this:
“I don’t watch porn at all, so I cannot answer your question.”
So what’s the takeaway from all this?
Well, as we previously predicted, straight men are a lot more bisexual than even they might know. The fact that their starting to open up about their gay porn fetishes, even if only on an anonymous Reddit thread, is a mark of progress. Hetero guys seem to be growing more comfortable with talking about previously taboo subjects like gay sex.
“I do believe it is possible to have an interest or even attraction to homosexuality but not be homosexual,” father_figa ultimately concluded on the thread. “That is what I was trying to find via the conversation.”

a more appropriate question for 20 something “straight” guys might be: “Do you watch the gay porn you’ve done?”

this is SUPER old news, this thread is over a year old. and has been posted on various sites over the last year (and on The Backlot just early today). And there are many, many threads like that on various subreddits. Normally I hate posts like the one I’m posting right now, but…I don’t think this is really news 🙁

Well, I guess I understand that some straight men might be fascinated by watching what we do. I actually watch straight porn about 50% of the time. I have zero interest in women and I’ve never wanted to be female, so my interest in it has nothing to do with bisexuality or a sudden realization that I might be trans. Nope, just find it fun to watch sometimes.
adventuretime
@Trippy: Yeah, but in straight porn there’s still at least a man to watch. In gay porn, there’s no woman for a “straight” guy to enjoy, so it’s a little bit different.
Trippy
@adventuretime: Sorta, but not always. Most straight porn is produced for men, so the camera focuses a lot on the lady parts and, of course, on her fake moaning and ecstatic begging. Yada yada. If I wanted to see naked, erect man-parts, I can watch gay stuff 24/7.
I think I enjoy straight porn simply because it touches the voyeuristic side of my brain. In fact, 95% of the porn choices I make are of the home/amateur variety. Maybe I just like watching straight people out of basic curiosity and because I respect their exhibitionist tendencies. If so, then perhaps that’s why (some) straight men find themselves watching gay porn. They just want to know what we do and how we do it, perhaps.

“Straight” porn movies already have a lot of gay action in it, of the girl-girl variety. Almost all such movies have girl-girl action in them. Therefore, it’s not a new thing that straight-identifying men watch same-sex action in their porn movies.
Of course, if you question their sexuality, these straight-identifying guys will arc up and get pretty aggressive. They hate it when you question their fetish for girl-girl action. Pointing to the female homosexual aspect of their fetish makes them really angry and exposes their double standards as straight guys.
Of course, the women who do porn are prostitutes. Any same-sex activity between women in porn movies is essentially filmed prostitution. I think straight-identifying men get off on the idea that a woman will prostitute herself.
mydude
I believe them. I’m the opposite. I like watching straight porn; yeah for the men, but the women can be arousing, too…however, I don’t want to sleep with the women. I’m not repelled by women or anything like that, I just have no desire to fuck them, but I have no qualms watching them get fucked by a guy.
jason smeds
Oh, and mutual masturbation amongst straight-identifying men is common and has been around since time began. Straight-identifying men get off on the idea of masturbating as a group over women. It combines the yearning for male bonding/touching with the yearning for sexual intercourse with a woman.

“straight” porn has evolved now to the point where the men can be very attractive, in a lot of cases. In some cases you had a model like Hakan Dan and the “focus” of the camera seemed to have been on him more than was common in straight porn. And, then you have the case of Xander Corvus who is extremely attractive but his butt is almost never shown (he is either pictured from the side or he is on his back). Seth Gamble is another very attractive guy in straight porn but he did a few gay vids before straight porn.
Cris Strokes is another model who gets a lot of screen time in straight porn and there are a lot of shots of his butt.
There is a documentary about post porn lives of actors and it show cases all of these guys who did straight porn in the 70’s and 80’s. Lore had it that guys in straight porn back then were picked because they weren’t pretty enough to make male viewers uncomfortable.
jason smeds
You’ve got to remember that “straight porn” is a brand name and not a description of content. What is meant by this brand name is anything that causes a straight-identifying male to feel aroused on viewing. This brand name blurs the line between definition and meaning. It’s propaganda.

Gay or straight – chances are if you’re watching porn you’re an emotionally arrested loser.
Else you’d be having actual sex with a human being other than the one holding your dick.
DjARD
@Saint Law:
Well aren’t you delightful?
This may shock you, but not everybody wants to have actual sex. Not everybody is DTF, and even those who are might still watch porn. Sexual attraction is on a spectrum, from “no fucking, sucking, kissing. ever.” to “must fuck 3 times a day”, and everything in between.
Some people may simply be more inclined to autosexuality, and they thus might need some visual or written stimulus.
DjARD
“I do believe it is possible to have an interest or even attraction to homosexuality but not be homosexual,” – a no doubt shocking revelations to every man and woman who doesn’t identify by sexual binaries.
Seriously, Queerty? Didn’t we already fucking talk about this? Wasn’t there a general consensus even among the usually pissy commenters that these dudes weren’t straight, and instead expressing a degree of bisexuality? (Or if we want to get really crazy and progressive here, showing how gray and complicated sexuality can be, and that “bisexual”, “pansexual”, etc.; doesn’t even properly illustrate it?)
So then, why the fuck are you again shoving this shit down our throats again? Make no mistake, men can be truly heterosexual, with no interest in anything related to same sex attraction. These men are not those men. How fucking hard is it for you guys to realize that the entire world does not revolve around binaries? Whether it be about sexuality, romantic attraction, overall sex drive, gender, so on. All of these things are on a vast spectrum, Queerty, and it’d be nice if your started acknowledging that.
Fuck.
Captain Obvious
More BS that only exists on the internet to continuously perpetuate this dumb idea that everyone is bisexual. I watched my parents straight porn they had stashed when they weren’t home, I’m not straight, or bi. Hell I have some(very little) porn with women in it and they’re the ones taking up the majority of the shot.
Anything can get you off, it doesn’t mean you’re into the person on screen. The energy the video, sounds, etc give off is what you’re feeling. That doesn’t mean you’re even a little bit bisexual because of it.
People need to realize that emotions and energy can make you feel something without having anything to do with sexuality. And that doesn’t make you bisexual because of it.
Besides if any of these people are below 30 years of age they’re still in the soul searching stage and have no clue what they want or who they’re into anyway. Most of them are willing to dry hump a tree if it can get them off. Doesn’t mean they’re going to marry one.
jason smeds
I agree that watching porn is an indication of arrested development. It means you watch rather than do. It’s a sign of emotional stagnation and represents a lack of progress in one’s life.
MarionPaige
it really is amazing, to this day in my view, the degree to which Hakan Dan was showcased in his films. The degree to which Hakan Dan was showcased is as amazing as the degree to which Xander Corvus isn’t showcased

“I find they are less fake about it most times, a lot less fake moaning and such.”
Awww, bless his heart.
I wouldn’t assume the commentator who said “normal” meant straight porn, i find it strange that would be your first assumption. Seems as if you’re grasping for anything homophobic. Whenever anyone says normal porn, i always find they mean vanilla porn with just 2 performers. When he said he’s not into normal porn with too much man in it, it reminded me of back shot complaint. The complaint about filming from behind where all you really see is the man’s ass as he pounds the woman. (Honestly that was the shot i loved the most). I have a straight friend who only watches point-of-view porn because it shows the least amount of the male performer.
Mikah
Sexuality is a spectrum and it is very dynamic.I see no reason as to why “straight” men can’t watch their own gender have sex.”Straight” porn is homoerotic to a degree, why not take it a step further? If people would stop trying to categorize sexuality then it wouldn’t be so difficult to understand.
cflekken
The interesting question would have been this:
– For the straight men, what excites you about watching gay porn? Is it imagining you are receiving or giving the blow job? Is it imagining you are a top or a bottom?
And I do agree with those that mentioned the “fakeness” of straight porn. I’ll admit that I can get very aroused by seemingly genuine straight porn, but if it’s filled with the incessant and fake moaning by a female, it’s flaccid-city. Watching explicit straight sex in mainstream movies (google for a list of movies) like 9 Songs, Now and Later, and such, gets me going better than gay porn. Oh, sh*t, maybe I’m straight…..
vive
A lot of gay porn has that fake moaning as well. Big turnoff, I agree.
What I like about straight porn is that the guys tend to have really nice-looking dicks and they are always hard as rocks. What’s with all the limp dicks in gay porn? Big turnoff.
DonW
@jason smeds: Just curious, Jason, since you’re so much more evolved than the majority of guys who sometimes masturbate to porn: how often do you get laid?
Paco
Careful queerty. Your fetish with wishing straight guys were into gay sex sounds like you are saying it is a choice to like man on man sex. It’s not a choice, right?
Alan down in Florida
Straight men sometimes prefer man on man porn because they can appreciate the physical feelings the performers have because they are men. A lot of straight men are clueless as to how women are feeling during sex and find it hard to relate.
james_in_cambridge
I think Queerty that you probably meant to say “so-called” straight men. This Reddit is all bi or gays posing as straight, which is, let’s face it, the number one fetish of most gay men these days.
Cee
@Saint Law: Well you are a loser. There’s no question about that. Porn is a multi-billion dollar industry. Figure it out Einstein.
