Former First Lady/Secretary of State, Future President and Current Bad Bitch Hillary Rodham Clinton surprised an engaged lesbian couple with a letter thanking them for their support, congratulating them on their pending nuptials and praising their involvement with the LGBT youth empowerment organization, It Gets Better.
Los Angeles lady-lovers Kassie Thornton and Christy Spitzer had appeared in Clinton’s presidential announcement video along with another same-sex couple, Chicago’s Nathan Johnson and Jared Milrad. Spitzer, a producer on MTV’s It Gets Better specials, wrote a letter to the Clinton campaign, which moved the Presidential candidate to send a letter of her own.
“It’s not every day that you open your mailbox to find a letter of gratitude, love, and support from the potential first female president of the U.S. We felt so honored, touched, and downright humbled,” Spitzer and Thornton told The Huffington Post. “We are blown away that she is a heartfelt supporter of the ‘It Gets Better Project,’ and is aware how important their powerful message is. The organization does positive things for many young people all over the world!”
Kassie and Christy will get married on June 13 and have naturally invited Clinton to attend. Seeing as she also received an invite for Nathan and Jared’s July 13 ceremony, Hills has got a big summer of campaigning and gay weddings on her plate.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
The It Gets Better Project’s mission is to communicate to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth around the world that it gets better, and to create and inspire the changes needed to make it better for them. To learn more please visit www.itgetsbetter.org

Thats really nice of her. Vote Hillary!
Curty
Hilary for years was ignoring the gay community now that 37 states have gay marriage and more people accept glb people she jumps on the bandwagon. Look Hilary is better than those gop nutjobs running but she is a bit fake. Where was she 20 years ago when her husband signed doma and don’t ask don’t tell, discriminatory laws? So its a bit fake. I respect her but she needs to be kept honest.
o.codone
she’s full of sh*it, a corrupt has-been. it’s done and over gurl. go home. and this article is a big yawn.
mmichael_24
@Curty: I mean studies do show that older people who were once not in support of gay marriage have become more open to it now.
lauraspencer
Wow!! How nice that Clinton had an assistant type up a letter to 2 lesbians. She even signed her name to it. It’s 2015 and she is running for President. Where were these notes in the past couple of years when she had plenty of free time on her hands when she wasn’t working and not running for office? It’s not like this is the first year gays and lesbians could marry.
In 2008 when she ran the first time she didn’t even support gay marriage. Now because the majority of the population has shifted and support gay marriage it is convenient for Clinton to do so as well.
Leaders don’t jump on the bandwagon they are usually the leaders of the band.

Politicians act according to numbers. Even if they secretly believe in something, they will only act upon their opinions once these opinions are the same as the ones of the majority. Hillary, in my opinion, was never against us. She just could not help us and get the necessary votes at the same time.
Clark35
She’s full of shit, she is a politician and will say anything to get a vote or support, and her history does not show that she’s actually for LGBT rights. She’s also apparently lesbian and closeted.
Matthew Chaney
The great panderer.
Ronbo
Hillary is so late to our party that we aren’t going to open her a new bottle of bubbly. Remember when she stood by and supported her husband when he signed BOTH DADT and DOMA?
Now that she needs our votes, she is a big supporter. Joe Biden was the man who opened up the political floodgates… and don’t forget it bitches. Without him, Obama would still be on the fence and the Clintenz would be saying whatever in response that bought them the biggest donations.
lauraspencer
@Ronbo:
Good point about Biden!! He spoke up in Spring 2012 when both Obama and Clinton had yet to say anything. He said something when he didn’t know if the public was on his side. Hillary didn’t support gay marriage until a year later in March 2013. I think it was even late in 2012 to be supporting gay marriage, but at least Biden spoke up and definitely before bigger Dems who were more concerned about how they were viewed than doing the right thing.
jason smeds
Don’t forget that Hillary stood by and watched while her husband signed anti-GLBT legislation.

@o.codone: You’re the one that is FULL OF FUCKING SHIT. You have always been.
And for those know nothings on here… Secretary of States typically stay out of discussing matters of domestic affairs. Hillary has been supportive for years. So take your screeching bullshit somewhere else. We all know you clowns would vote for republicans because it’s supposedly good for your stupid fucking check book.
Giancarlo85
@Ronbo: WRONG. Bill Clinton would have been override by a veto and the 1990s were a different time. CLinton had no choice but to sign them because republicans had a huge majority in Congress. They would have override him if he tried to stop them.
@lauraspencer: Again putz… Secretary of States typically do NOT comment on domestic affairs. It’s a long standing tradition. It isn’t really policy, but they tend to stay out of domestic issues. Hillary, however, was making vastly supportive speeches of equal rights in other countries internationally through the United Nations far before Obama came out in support. Don’t bullshit us please, liar.
lauraspencer
@Giancarlo85:
Hello angry, bitter Giancarlo85.
You do realize that Hillary ran for President before being Secretary of State and was a Senator and the First Lady? She could have supported gay marriage and rights at any time before 2009 when she became Secretary of State and she did not.
As for voting Republican I have yet to see a Republican candidate that I would vote for. As for Democrats I really wanted Elizabeth Warren.
Giancarlo85
@lauraspencer: You are a sloppy mess. You seem more supportive of Ted Cruz.
You are an angry bitter little troll.
Obama wasn’t supportive of same sex marriage in 2008 either. Do you realize when Hillary was Secretary of State she made multiple statements regarding LGBT rights in other states where LGBT people face imprisonment or possibly death?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/06/hillary-clinton-gay-rights-speech-geneva_n_1132392.html
“I am talking about gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people, human beings born free and given bestowed equality and dignity, who have a right to claim that, which is now one of the remaining human rights challenges of our time. I speak about this subject knowing that my own country’s record on human rights for gay people is far from perfect. Until 2003, it was still a crime in parts of our country. Many LGBT Americans have endured violence and harassment in their own lives, and for some, including many young people, bullying and exclusion are daily experiences. So we, like all nations, have more work to do to protect human rights at home.” – Hillary Clinton 2011
Do you remember this one? Or is your selective brain not functioning?
Realize that LGBt rights isn’t all about marriage.
lauraspencer
@Giancarlo85:
I’m not a troll. They tend to be itty bitty creatures. I’m 6’1″.
I’m not a Ted Cruz supporter. Are you? You seem to know a lot about him so I’m guessing you must be backing him. He isn’t a candidate that I can support.
I’m still waiting to see who else is running before determining who gets my vote. It is still way too early to tell. Not enough candidates in the race yet seeing that we still have a year and a half to go before the election.
I’m not like most lemmings who blindly support the Clintons. Let’s see who else is going to run.
Giancarlo85
@lauraspencer: A troll refers to an internet troll. You can’t seem to read.
You are stupid. I know a lot about most of the candidates who are running. That doesn’t mean I am backing them.
Lemmings? You are a brainless fool.
Giancarlo85
Hillary is a long time supporter of LGBT rights and was more outspoken than even Joe Biden. This is a fact. She made several historic speeches regarding treatment of LGBT people throughout the world.
You insult those who support Hillary because you don’t have a real argument. She is the only logical choice amongst the democrats. As far as Elizabeth Warren, I doubt she will run.
lauraspencer
@Giancarlo85:
uh huh. as secretary of state from 2009 – 2013 Hillary did make statements supporting LGBT rights around the globe. Very nice, but she should clean up her own backyard before pointing fingers at the rest of the world. Where was she prior to 2009 in making these statements as a Senator? As a Presidential Candidate in 2007? First Lady of the US? First Lady of Arkansas? She did it in 2009 because it was easy to do since the US population was shifting on LGBT topics. She didn’t speak up and support gays a decade earlier when we had just as many issues. She is a typical politician who waits to do the right thing when the majority of the population favors it.
Being a good leader is taking a stance and making choices for good even when the majority of the oountry disagrees with you. That is not Hillary.
Giancarlo85
@lauraspencer: Oh fucking bullshit. You are so full of yourself. Clean up her own backyard? What legal authority does Secretary of State have over national laws in the United States? None. And was she an elected figure of a domestic state-wide, local or national office from 2009-2013? No she was not.
She was talking about the human rights issues in other countries. This is beyond your conceptual understanding. You are a limited person and you have a deeply limited perspective. She was voicing support for equality and human rights of LGBT people before Warren, Obama or many other democrats. And Obama did not speak out as much as she did in 2009, 2010 or 2011. Obama didn’t do it until later because Biden forced him to do so.
“She is a typical politician who waits to do the right thing when the majority of the population favors it.”
Except she wasn’t a politician running for anything in that time. She was an appointed official who headed the US Department of State. Learn the fucking difference.
“Being a good leader is taking a stance and making choices for good even when the majority of the oountry disagrees with you. That is not Hillary.”
Oh really? Name me a democrat who has done that (not even Warren sorry).
You’re so full of shit and you’re all over the place.
Giancarlo85
If anything, shouldn’t you be supporting Joe Biden for President? Oh wait… he changed his mind too… and evolved. Same thing goes to Warren and Obama. And basically the entire democratic party. Even Jerry Brown didn’t openly support same sex marriage until 2009.
Oh wait… perhaps you should consider supporting Gavin Newsom… he was in favor of same sex marriage when it was evenly split in California!
You are all over the place, laura… and you’re not fooling any of us. Even your favored candidate, Warren, has evolved on this issue!
lauraspencer
@Giancarlo85:
Darling, you keep making it about Hillary when she was Secretary of State. If you read my posts I commented that she has been silent on LGBT issues when she was First Lady of Arkansas, First Lady of the USA, Senator of NYC and she didn’t support gay marriage when she ran for President in 2007 and ’08. She’s had plenty of platform to speak out for LGBT issues besides Secretary of State and she did not.
I agree with you about Obama. He took way too much time for my liking to come around to LGBT issues as well.
As for my perspective I think you are the poor one with a limited view. I can see the strengths of certain Dems, certain Independents and certain Republicans. You are the one who is focused only on Hillary. As I said before, I’m still waiting to see who all the candidates are and what they have to say. It is still so early to decide who I’m going to vote for. You seem to have your candidate chosen already. That’s fine, but since you are already sold on Hillary it your perspective that is limited and not mine. I’m still very open minded. Toodles.
lauraspencer
@Giancarlo85:
Warren is not my favored candidate. I yet to favor anyone.
Giancarlo85
@lauraspencer: What about the rest of the democratic party during that time? Most of the democratic party was against same sex marriage. In fact I can’t name a single democratic party politician prior to the 2008 election that was in favor of same sex marriage. Some may have been sympathetic, but you are wrong on so many factors.
Just accept the support. She is genuine about it. And like the REST of the democratic party she evolved too on the issue.
You have an EXTREMELY limited view on this. Your view is in fact total rubbish. I am not even a democrat, but I find myself defending them. I am not even too happy with the way democrats handled certain factors like not preventing republicans from gutting the Frank-Dodd financial regulations and rules.
What other candidates? Sanders? I’ll pass. If you want a field with a ton of stupid candidates, you can vote republican.
I think Hillary is the best of the potential democratic candidates (many of which wouldn’t run anyways). The only one I would prefer is even older than her and wouldn’t want to run for office anyways (Jerry Brown).
“I’m still very open minded. ”
No you’re not. You see strengths in “certain republicans”. That basically discredits that viewpoint. There are no “strengths” in ANY of the republicans running for office or ANY of the republicans in the GOP.
Giancarlo85
@lauraspencer: You spoke highly about her.
You see that’s your issue… you assume too much about me.
Next time don’t tell me what I made up my mind about. I would support Jerry Brown for office, but he won’t run.
Republicans have no good ideas and have only fucked this nation over.
lauraspencer
@Giancarlo85:
“As for Democrats I really wanted Elizabeth Warren.”
That is no my definition of speaking highly of her. It was a simple sentence.
