Joe Biden unveils latest secret weapon: Cher

Via YouTube

Legendary entertainer Cher has announced her return to performing after a forced COVID-19 hiatus. The singer/actress will take to the virtual stage in a special LGBTQ-themed fundraiser for Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden on August 31.

Cher, a longtime Democratic supporter, announced her endorsement of Biden in February of this year. Now she takes that praise to a new level, joining Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Rep. David Cicilline in a special online fundraiser.

AM PROUD JOE BIDDEN SUPPORTER,” Cher tweeted last week.LOVE, RESPECT, & BELIEVE IN JOE. I WILL NEVER STOP BELIEVING IN JOE, & I’M NO STARRY EYED GIRL. I’VE SEEN IT ALL & JOE IS MY PRESIDENT. JOE WILL HELP WORKING FAMILIES. WE HAVE A MILLION SHATTERED DREAMS. I TRUST JOE 2 PUT THEM BACK TOGETHER AGAIN.”

Tickets for the fundraiser will range from $1,000 to $100,000 per person, either in the form of a donation or money raised. Cher’s political co-hosts for the evening keep with the queer theme. Buttigieg, Baldwin and Cicilline are all out-LGBTQ politicians.

In an even more exciting twist, the online Cher concert will not be the only pro-Biden LGBTQ fundraiser. Pop legend Cyndi Lauper has announced she will hold a special LGBTQ for Biden event on September 15, co-hosted by Pete Buttigieg and fellow out-gay Democrats Rep. Sharice Davids of Kansas and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
