This just in: Tyler the Creator dropped his latest single “Okra” yesterday and it’s all about his crush on Timothée Chalamet.
In the third verse of the song, Tyler sings about his affections for the Call Me By Your Name actor.

“Tell Timothée Chalamet to come get at me,” he croons. “Skin glowin’, clear of acne, diamonds see-through, so holographic.”
How about we take this to the next level?

Seductive, no?
Naturally, the Twitterverse has gone wild over the reference.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Tyler, who has made no shortage of homophobic comments in the past, has rapped about maybe probably being into menfolk.
On his Grammy-nominated album Flower Boy, Tyler appeared to open up about his sexuality in the songs “Ain’t Got Time” and “Garden Shed.” On “Ain’t Got Time,” he raps, “Next line will have ’em like, ‘Whoa’/I’ve been kissing white boys since 2004.”

And in a 2017 interview with Koopz Tunes, Tyler said he had a boyfriend as a teenager, “Open-minded now? I had a boyfriend when I was 15 in f*cking Hawthorne, n*gga. If that’s not open-minded, then I don’t know what the f*ck that is.” Although he later walked back those comments.

Sorry, bi-maybe/bye-gaybies Aaron Carter, but Tyler’s firmly on the twink train.

He’s another that’s probably best not to pay any mind to for the time being.

Also, while it’s “cute” do we really need more apparently gay/gay-leaning man lusting after apparently straight/straight-leaning guy scenarios.

Too bad Timmy is straight…. Except when it comes to Peaches!

I have a feeling even if Chalamet wasn’t straight he wouldn’t be interested in Tyler. He’s an insecure guy dealing with a lot of internalized homophobia who can’t come to terms with his own sexuality. So many red flags on this one.

Or maybe he (assuming you’re referring to Tyler) is doing sexuality on his own terms and doesn’t need a rainbow flag and pat on the head from GLAAD

I’m cool with being more “low-key” and dealing with things on your own terms. But that’s not really what he’s been doing. Unlike say Frank Ocean, Tyler has done a lot of mealy-mouthing, has thrown stuff out there for the sake of sensationalism and has said/rapped some pretty upsetting things, things that were uncalled for no matter what his orientation or lifestyle is. While I understand personal struggles and try not to be nitpicky problematic sh*t can’t just be dismissed.

@Don
Nothing Tyler has said—*SAID* and not DONE—all while barely more than a teenager—is worse than things said by Eminem et al. (but Eminem wasn’t permanently banned from performing overseas ). Moreover, Tyler was explicitly (in every sense of the word) only channeling the views of his psychotic alter egos..yknow ART…while never made any secret of his positive feeling towards gay

…gay people and bullied outsiders in real life (unlike many of these other artists ). And if he’s allowed to use the N word by the same token he has to drop the F bomb because he’s family. Personally I think Queer is a slur too and shouldn’t be reclaimed…but that’s just me. People are so black and white and encouraged by trash media recycling outrage click bait

…OR……Tyler the NOT Creator just knows how to work the publicity train to keep himself relevant since his music isn’t cutting it.

I didn’t feel any need to compare him to Em, because most of what Em did was 10+ years ago. Him and his music is just not on my radar any longer. And also, Em is apparently not a gay or gay-leaning man. Apparently.
Look, I understand that some people go through a lot of of sh*t (outside homophobia, internalized homophobia, resentment of certain genders, sociological pressures, an enviornment full of “toxic masculinity”, religious guilt, molestation/rape, depression, self-destructive instints, confusions/not having a complete grasp on the dynamics of your orientation or sense of gender and what you want, etc). Therefore, I especially try to give younger people a bit of a pass. But at a certain point it’s just like, calm the fvck down and get your sh*t together. Or at the very least for-real use your art to attack your struggles as opposed to just getting headlines and goofing around. It’s just not cute anymore, even when looked at through an ironic filter.

Also, I don’t have an issue with the word “fag” in and of itself. I call my husband that all the time. But it’s about the context, and if you’re gonna use it to feign “pride” actually own it. He doesn’t do that, which makes it problematic. And I understand the issues with “queer”. It’s pretty all-emcompassing (like 80% of people could be “queer”), and it still pretty much just means “weird”, which is why some Iike it. I do understand its use, especially for people who have dimensions in both their orientation and sense of gender or public figures who want to come out without reveal too much. However, it can be as problematic as bi or fluid as far as using it to cover certain disturbing aspects about yourself rather than to reveal anything or being a very gay or trans leaning person desperately holding on to some sense of hetero-normalcy or being a hetero-worshiper or being a very straight-leaning person clinging on to the “alternative” for your own social and ego benefits.
Really, all these different “identities” can be problematic, convoluted, mis-used and have a bad histories.

Sorry, Timothee is into peaches, not Okra.

You maybe/probably could replace that über-annoying expression with “it’s possible that,” or something similar.
