PHOTOS: The homoerotic lucha libre culture like you’ve never seen before

“I like photographing the male body,” photographer Primitivo Moreno tells Queerty. “I like to explore intimacies between men through photographs, as well as explore my own erotic side.”

Moreno grew up in the city of Monterrey, in the northeastern Mexican state of Nuevo León. It is the third-largest metropolitan area in Mexico. His culture is reflected in his work, particularly the queer nightlife and lucha libre scenes. Many of his models are regular, working class guy who he meets on the street or online.

“I am a little bit of a sadist,” Moreno explains. “The masks represent my somewhat closeted interests surrounding bondage. I am also a foot fetishist. So there’s an element of humiliation is making my models wear a mask that gives me pleasure.”
