Award shows have officially run amok in 2017.
On the heels of this year’s historic Oscars flub, which found La La Land producers accepting Moonlight‘s Best Picture award, two crafty German comedians took it upon themselves to bamboozle a German awards show by arranging for a sneaky Ryan Gosling lookalike to sweep in and grab the award for La La Land.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Gosling impostor accepted the award at the Goldene Kamera awards, who firmly believed the real actor was on hand to accept the award.
The impersonator, whose real name is Ludwig Lehner, was put into action by German comedians Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf as part of “an elaborate prank,” successfully fooling organizers into inviting Lehner to the ceremony under the assumption he was the real Ryan Gosling.
They even set up a phony PR agency to trick show’s organizers into believing Gosling was filming a project near the awards and really wanted to go.

Goldene Kamera organizers were so keen on getting Gosling onto the show that they happily caved to a series of strange demands: Gosling refused to walk the red carpet, talk to the show’s host, and needed to be surrounded by a fleet of private security guards at all time. Also, the fact that he was presenting couldn’t be announced before the broadcast.

Plenty of A-List celebrities were in attendance to witness the bizarre spectacle, including Jane Fonda, Nicole Kidman, and Colin Farrell.
It’s a world apparently full of uncanny Ryan Gosling lookalikes. In January, Madame Tussauds unveiled a truly creeptastic, soul-bending Ryan Gosling wax sculpture. And apparently straight men ingesting tons of Molly and accidentally sleeping with their Ryan Gosling lookalike friends is apparently a thing to be on the lookout for, too.
