Less than one week after the gym Equinox and owner Stephen Ross became the subject of boycotts over plans to host a Trump fundraiser, Marvel comics chairman Isaac Perlmutter has become the target of similar criticism.

Perlmutter, who joined the company in 1993, oversees the publication of Marvel comics and donated $2,800 to Trump campaign. Perlmutter also donated half a million dollars to other Republican re-election campaigns. That revelation sparked a massive internet blowback, led by actor Armie Hammer. “Hey, while everyone seems to be on this Equinox thing,” Hammer tweeted, “it might be a good time to mention that one of Trump’s largest financial contributors is the chairman of Marvel Entertainment (Isaac Perlmutter)….. jussayin.”

Marvel has yet to react to the calls for boycott. As chairman, Perlmutter oversees the publication of comic titles, animation titles and pre-Disney streaming television shows. Reports indicate, following a 2015 shake-up, Perlmutter no longer has creative input to the Marvel Studios films. Perlmutter was allegedly removed from his creative position with Marvel Studios after complaints from Kevin Feige, and after a series of female and African-American executives quit over alleged harassment from Perlmutter.

Someone needs to remind him this is America where people are free to support whoever they choose! Maybe he’d be happier in North Korea!
jjose712
Yes, and people are free to not support with their money the ones who support Trump.
This works both ways

@rustyiam Tell us….what flavor is Trump’s ballsack today?

Welcome to America where no one has to move anywhere because someone disagrees with their odious point of view.

Or maybe as a trust-fund Republican, Armie himself could go up against trump….

Isn’t that exactly what he’s doing?

There are arch-conservatives behind a Superhero franchise in which justice is meted out by strange, twisted vigilantes. Shock!

Marvel Studios almost certainly won’t suffer for whatever Perlmutter does with his money. Unless that was Armie’s point?

Armie Hammer absolutely fascinates because his role as an LGBTQ advocate is so unexpected. In fact, looking at his pedigree, though wouldn’t even expect to be a liberal. Although his great-grandfather founded the New York Communist party, things expectedly leaned conservative with his grandfather, oil tycoon Armand Hammer. That conservatism went far right with his parents, who initially disowned him for choosing acting over college. Both his parents are ULTRA religious Christians. His Oklahoman mother serves “on many boards, including the Los Angeles Dream Center where she teaches Bible Study and is involved with programs geared toward discipleship. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Joyce Meyer Ministries.” In fact, she was the one who converted Armie’s father.
His dad “became a Christian upon marrying his wife, and is a benefactor of several Christian organizations dedicated to evangelism, including Jews for Jesus, Italy for Christ, Don Dennis Ministries, Marty Goetz Ministries, Mike Barber Ministries, and the Douglas L. Mobley Foundation (named after his wife’s father, a former real estate developer and banker turned Christian evangelist).” And he’s on the board of Oral Roberts University, one of the most religious and homophobic universities in the world.
These quotes are from Wikipedia, which further writes that Armie’s parents are now supportive of him and his career. I can’t even imagine that being true given his role in Call Me By Your Name (and its upcoming sequel), and liberal biopic, On the Basis of Sex. And then there’s Armie’s outspoken liberal and pro-LGBTQ views.
I wonder what his relationship with them is really like, and whether they are truly proud. But way to go, Armie! One of the few men I’d turn gay for!

Interesting info. Thanks.
