Pretty good lineup this week. Does Bruno Alcantara ever take a bad photo? Will Smith’s dad bod still looks good but I hear him on cutting out the midnight muffins. I personally could do without the former model/boyband creep who beat up Vietnamese Americans in a racist attack in 1988, though. Given the current state of affairs with attacks against AAPIs, less of him is best.

I second that. For someone who got his start due to physical appearances, he has come far – considering his limited range, and that of his brother, as actors. If what you say is true, it is far worse than some mean slurs from kids, but shows a deep-seated streak. People have been fired, or “let off” a contract, for far less. Unless he has demonstrated contrition (charitable, educational etc.), I would not watch anything with him.

I presume you are referring to Mark Wahlberg. I don’t believe he is or was racist. He said himself he attacked the Vietnamese man to steal his beer. If he was racist it would seem strange that his backing group when he was a singer were all black and he seemed to get on rather well with them. Are the mistakes people make in their youth to follow them for the rest of their lives?

@john.k, it was two men, not one. And that was not the only racist crime Wahlberg committed. In 1986, when he was 15, Wahlberg and three of his White buddies were charged for chasing 3 Black children through Dorchester and stoning them with rocks while screaming “Kill the n*****s.” An ambulance driver intervened to save the children. The next day he again harassed Black kids at a beach, yelling racial epithets and throwing stones at them. Two year later, while he was high on angel dust, he brutally attacked two Vietnamese American men. He knocked one man unconscious with a stick and punched the other in the eye, all the while screaming racist epithets. He was convicted of both crimes, and sentenced to two years in jail for the attack on the Asian American men, though he only served 45 days. This is all documented. I’m not sure where you got your story about the beer, and yes, people can change and do grow up, but if this site were featuring a Muslim or Black or Latino person who’d attacked White kids in his youth, would you be as forgiving? Just wondering.

He’s also homophobic, probably because of his time in gaol where his young body no doubt had many admirers whose attentions he couldn’t avoid for long.

@kangol2 ….true. Can’t stand him for those major reasons. I’ve seen a few of his films, and frankly he’s about average and very vain, even in pretty good films. Overall he’s so tired. He must know how to network. …next

Given the Smith’s past as members of the Church of Scientology (and possibly current, as Scientologists feel it is perfectly acceptable to lie to those not members of the cult), it is not at all appropriate to have any pictures of them on Queerty. The actual teachings of L. Ron Hubbard consider homosexuality to be among the worst of “personality disorders,” and Hubbard’s own son (who was gay) committed suicide because he could not deal with the extreme disapproval from his family and associates. Hubbard’s public comment on the death was “”That stupid f-ing kid! Look what he’s done to me!”
I joined the church briefly way back in the late 60’s because of their claim to be able to “cure” homosexuality, but left after 6th months as I both became aware of the burgeoning gay liberation movement and the low integrity/intellect of all those I met at Scientology meetings.

Will Smith can still get in and Bruno A is still the one.
