Mollygood editor Whitney Little on homosexual entertainer Lance Bass' Dancing With The Stars debut:
…I can't imagine watching this ballroom competition on a regular basis for the next few months. The only thing keeping me around is the promise of future husband Lance Bass, who is also being wooed by his partner, So You Think You Can Dance alum Lacey Schwimmer. After dancing the cha cha, she confesses that she once believed Lance would marry her. Pshh, please.

This from a girl who thought Bass would marry her? Indeed!

» Lance Bass: Own Gay Dance Show?

Lance Bass is the first openly gay dancer on Dancing with the Stars, although he'll be dancing with a women. Dancing with boys on may be in his future though, "Another show with all guys dancing and all girls dancing, that's a different story. I think that's sexy." He then added, "I should pitch that." Can you imagine, Brent Corrigan dancing with Perez Hilton? Now that is something I'd watch.

Some gays are up in arms because Lance Bass won't have a male partner on this season's Dancing With The Stars. That's understandable. Bass is, after all, of the homo persuasion.

Though aware of the outrage, Dancing producers said same-sex partners simply aren't part of the show's purview.

USA Dance [which governs dancing competitions] doesn't have explicit rules against same-sex competitive couples…

"He happens to be gay, but that's not why he's on our show," [senior producer Deena] Katz explained. "We're not a dating show - although sometimes it ends up that way."

Bass' manager, Cindy Owen, said the network "never had the intention" of partnering her client with a man, adding "he's very excited to have Lacey [Schwimmer] as a partner."

Some people, like gay dancer Chuck Stewart, think ABC's simply scared of anxious advertisers.

We absolutely agree.

After months of speculation and nearly catastrophic anticipation, ABC today announced its latest Dancing With The Stars line-up. And, yes, homosexual pop star Lance Bass will be among the jitter bugs, which includes Kim Kardashian, celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito, some Olympians and others.

Those of you who wanted Bass to have a same-sex dance partner will be sorely disappointed: he's cha-chaing with a lady named Lacey Schwimmer.

» Male Ready?

Lance Bass claimed last week that he won't be appearing on Dancing With The Stars, but that hasn't done anything to quell rumors - and speculation on whether the gay entertainer would have a male partner. Dancing dancer Cheryl Burke even took a stab at the million dollar question and concluded that Bass most likely wouldn't be two-stepping with another man: "I don't think that would happen. I don't think America is ready to watch two men dancing." Speak for yourself… [E!]

» Not Seeing Stars?

Paparazzi caught former boy bander Lance Bass coming out of a bar in Los Angeles last night. And, obviously having a bit of fun at Bass' expense, the shutter bugs called him "gorgeous" and said they hope he wins the Dancing With The Stars crown. Bass said, however, that he's not going to be on the show. He is, however, still gay. [TMZ]

Lance Bass' new boyfriend, Sebastian Leal, has a wife. Yep, you read that right. The personal trainer, who has been dating the former boy bander for a few weeks, married a woman nine years ago and failed to get a divorce.

Leal, who is Italian but was born and raised in Brazil, married US citizen Jessica Gannon nine years ago - and never got a divorce. The two separated three years ago, due to what Gannon told us through a rep were "irreconcilable differences." She added, "We continue to love each other. He was, is and always will be my best friend." One pal of Bass and Leal told us the news will be no shock to Bass because "Lance and Sebastian are very open with each other and have no secrets." A rep for Bass, who contacted Leal as well, declined to comment.

So, why didn't the couple get a divorce? We don't know, but we bet because it wasn't as convenient as getting married…

» Heads Together…

"Lance Bass is locked and loaded for the next season of Dancing With the Stars, says an insider. But we hear network execs are already fretting over whether or not to pair the openly gay pop star with a male or female dance partner." [NYDN]

Posting two music videos a day can get a little tiresome, so we often ask our colleagues whether or not they have any aural suggestions. Actually, we usually just send them an instant message that says "aural?"

Most of the time they just ignore us, but little Whitney Little - Jossip intern turned Mollygood associate editor - usually offers us all sorts of enthusiastic suggestions, most of them bad. (She did declare her love for Lance Bass, remember?)

Today, however, Whitney surprised us and suggested a song we actually like: "Hard To Handle" by the Black Crowes. And she's absolutely thrilled to itty-bits that we agreed to post this 1990 single, that she literally squealed with joy. Or we're assuming she did, because she's that kind of girl - and that's why we love her.

The hip-hop scene's about to be rocked!

Well, that's if you believe Terrence Dean's book publicist. The former MTV executive will soon release Hiding In Hip-Hop, which will allegedly expose the genre's biggest homos. From the release:

"Hiding In Hip-Hop" uncovers a hidden and well-known unspoken secret. Deep within the confines of Hip-Hop is a prominent gay sub-culture. A world that industry insiders are keenly aware of, but choose to ignore.

According to Dean, "This book is filled with intrigue, sexy celebrity bed partners, abundance of drugs, and of course, the down low/gay men and celebrities in the entertainment industry.

This tale's a long time coming. Honky homos have been forced out in recent years, like Lance Bass, Neil Patrick Harris and TR Knight. It's only fair that black folk take some heat, too.

We have no idea who Dean will name, but we've got some theories…

We're not psychic, but we do have some theories…

Former boy bander and forever homosexual Lance Bass came out against homophobia for this year's Day of Silence, which commemorates those lost to anti-gay violence.

This year's Day - which will be held on April 25th - honors 15-year old Lawrence King, who died after being shot by an allegedly anti-gay school mate.

Bass was apparently quite touched by King, saying "I heard about Lawrence on the news, and it was just incredible to me that kids that age that would have such an issue … with the subject of being gay."

In the PSA above, Bass insists that gays are "brothers and sisters" and that we must all work to educate the rest of the world. Well said, Bass.

We have to agree with Dlisted on this one: "Lance Bass is missing the whole point of dating. The point of dating is to be seen with someone that is at least twice as hot as your last boyfriend." For real: Bass' new man ain't as cute as his last one, Ben Thigpen.

That said, this matching makes a bit more sense…

Like so many courageous people before him, JC Chasez gathered his strength, put on a brave face and had a heart-to-heart with Tyra Banks.

The girls had some small, publicist-approved talk about the singer's dance show, career history and the like, but things soon veered toward the queer when Banks brought up Chasez's former bandmate, Lance Bass.

Like the self-proclaimed pro she is, Banks repeatedly presses Chasez on whether he suspected Bass like boys. Chasez is for more experienced, however, and rebuffs her efforts by saying he never likes to make presumptions. Well played!

Having struck out on the gay angle, Banks then delves in Chasez's much gabbed about love life. He claims not to have a girlfriend at the moment, but makes sure to mention that he has had girlfriends. Yeah, so have we.

Chasez goes on to say that he would potentially have a "partner" if he could get dragged out of "the studio". Indeed…
